Am I the only one disappointed with the EVO?

I have learned that iof you have a problem with an evo part, just email John. You may not receive a reply but you will receive a replacement.

BTW even if the evo battery only lasts 2 hours it still charges so quickly, and the usb charger is so small (so you can carry it with you), that you should never find yourself without power

I have an evo and a pen-style with a battery pack.
The evo is definitely really great for its size, it's also very dependable in my opinion. More dependable than any other e-cig i've owned.
BUT
I like the throat hit on the pen+battery pack better than on the evo. It seems like the pen gets hotter, i almost never feel my evo get even a bit warm. I'll probably continue to use both. I intend to buy another evo kit with two batteries.

The trouble with me is that I really hate complaining about dodgy parts, I certainly can't be bothered if I have to send them back....I just feel reluctant to make any more purchases ..... two brand new Evo genie batteries I recently bought were both useless the first one died within a couple of hours and the other one just keeps cutting out.....but luckily the original two batteries that I had with the starter kit are still working fine and I think it's amazing how quickly they recharge.

i've had mine for 4 days now and when i first got it, i found one of the batteries was giving me some trouble. 2 hours to charge, led light going on and off in random fashion and only 2 hours use compared to 4-5 hours i was getting from the other. It was also a lot more difficult to get any vapour, so much so that i was having to puff on it like it was a wet pipe. Wish i could have filmed myself, you would have creased up.....

i'm the same as you Pete, i don't like to be seen moaning and would sooner right a company off than go back for my money. However i persisted with the bloody thing, leaving it charging over night couple times, that kinda thing and today it has lasted about 4 hours as i type this.

i am surprised and i was going to email John today or tomorrow about it, but if it continues to function as it has started to do today, then i will be satisfied.

I am not sure you should leave a battery on charge overnight......the new battery that died soon after I got it actually became almost 'smokingly' hot after only about 20 mins on charge ....it was very lucky that the computer shut down the usb port and said it had overloaded. I don't know if all computers can do that.

Everyone keeps writing and asking for a comparison between the Pilot (M401), EVO and the Janty Dura. Just from looking at the threads that say "anyone have a problem with..." and noticing that NO ONE has said that about the Pilot yet... I am not wasting my money! I just ordered a Pilot for a friend and some extra parts for mine and I am done... no need to try to improve on something that seems perfect for me.

dont see much point in comparing to an evo, since they are both 401's, but i am curious about the dura, and if they can fix the battery issues...parked got 40 drops in the dura cart!!! i'm also curious about this new model from marian(her own new brand) with its lifetime atomizer garuntee. but im also kinda with spikey in that the 401 adressed all my complaints about the 901. but hey, if someone has a unit thats similar size, and can double the battery and cart life of the 401, im listening....perfect would be never changing batteries(nuclear powered?) and never changing carts:confused:, with an atomizer that never loses vapor or degrades in any way....hit the drawing board guys!!!!

Just want to share my experience with an EVO today.

A friend from the UK dropped by recently and lent me an extra set he had for a couple of days along with some menthol low carts. I was of course extremely thrilled due to the fact that intellicig.com does not ship to Singapore due to packages being confiscated and destroyed at customs.

I have to say I was kinda disappointed in it. Due to all the hype, I was really expecting much more.

So here is the first impressions:

Cons

- It has a really tough draw (kind of like sucking milkshake through a straw, maybe even tougher)

- imo, the smoke seemed rough; unrefined so to speak. And the vapor didn't give me that cool smooth sensation.

- as for throat hit, I experienced little or none at all even after using minty menthol 36mg nicotine. =( Note that I tried it with a fully charged battery and the atomizer has already been broken in for a couple of days, has been drained and dry dripped to be primed.

I tried the same juice on a pen style (901) and the vapor was smooth, cool and gave me a good strong throat hit. Similar to smoking a Marlboro Menthol ....

As for the PROS

- The evo resembles a real ...

- The vapor is really good

- It charges real quick

imho, Other than that I really do not see why it is one of the popular brands of ecigs. Maybe its because people like what people desire and the hype really amped up the popularity.

Anyway, I hope I don't get attacked by loyal evo fans, this is just my personal view and I just want to share my opinion. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Golly! It's really interesting to hear your experience with the Evo. The tough draw I have never experienced - the new carts draw a little harder than the old style, but this is only a slight difference. How many carts did you try?Was it the same with all of them?

Peoples' experience of "throat hit" appears to be a very subjective thing. Parked, who is an excellent reviewer, experienced a lack of throat hit too. I must say that I have always been delighted by the Evo's vape. If "throat hit" means rough and peppery then no, I don't get that. If it means a feeling of full satisfaction then yes, I do get that.

The only time I ever experienced a hard draw on an evo was when I overfilled a cart and dripped the atomiser as well (to see what would happen!).

It just goes to show that our experience of these devices seems to differ greatly. Partly this could be down to individual vaping "styles" - though it does seem to be notoriously hard to reach any sort of consensus.

V. interesting post - good luck with your future vaping!

Acually, i am vaping the intellicig, M401 from smoore, m401 from royal, M401 puresmoker. They all vape very similar. The draw is definatly harder than 3 piece, 801, 108, 901, similar to njoy, 4072 puresmoker penstyle. The drawback to me with the evo is the damn short cutoff, due to my extensive puffing. The cutoff for a minute, or 2 turns my stomach. These are very analog like, imho. I like em.....:)

Golly too! Any advice for me? I did drip into the atomizer (2 drops) after draining it.
As for the carts, I followed igetcha's instructions of rinsing and drying the wool. And topping up the inner cart (new version) with 8 drops etc....

Do you think that I have errmm.. "overfilled" or the combi of overfilling and dripping the atomizer caused the hard draw?

Expipe, thanks for replying... I really want to have the EVO experience!

After using the Evo for nearly two months .....it's the cut out that had put me off of it the most.....there are times I just want a really good long draw and all I do is make it cut out for a couple of mins....it's like constantly having someone taking a cigarette away from you before you can manage to get a decent puff on it.

Surely - the Evo experience imho is a great one!

If I were you I'd try with a fresh cart and no dripping/top up. Then if no joy try a different atomiser. Make sure your battery id FULLY charged.

Do let us know how you get on!

Reading all this has really put me off buying any sort of e-cig. I had purchased a gamucci, but it didnt live up to the expectations, then an Njoy, and again, didnt live up to the expectations that I had. These two products are ok for the first few pulls, then I realise the battery starts to die, and then the cartriges run out. The claims that the cartriges are supposed to be an equivalent to about 10/15 cigarettes is another joke. I got about 20 good vapour drags from each cartridge, then they start to faulter.

I was keen on getting the evolution, but am not to sure now considering it seems to have the exact same problems as almost the majority of the other e-cigs on the market.

I really dont have time to be keeping on charging it, replacing the cartridges, replacing batteries, replacing atomisers etc. its such a hassle.

It's slowly making me just want to go into a shop, buy a pack of 20 cigarettes, and just light one and smoke one. then when i've finished, just chuck it away. Simple.

The manufacturers of these really need to produce something much more reliable as I have seemed to have spent more money on these two pieces of kit and cartriges than i have spent in the last two weeks on cigarettes.

Sorry you had bad luck with your first e-cig choices. It happens to lots of people, so you're not alone. Luckily there's lots of info on this forum about what works and what doesn't.

When you speak of the "hassle" of e-smoking - yes, there are things you have to do to get the best out of them and it's not as straightforward as smoking a cigarette. Imho it's not as dull, either - it's a bit more like pipe-smoking, where all the maintainance rituals are part of the pleasure.

Whatever you decide to do - good luck!

I have to say the very quick charging time of the Evo batteries is a really great thing but I think if I wanted to spend the day away from the computer .....I would probably need to take a pack of Twenty Evo's with fully charged batteries, each with it's own atomizer and fully primed cart and a bottle of juice with me to feel certain I wasn't going to end up having to buy some analogues....... but unfortunately I think that's probably true with just about any e-cig from what I have been reading.

Well - our experiences differ! I get about 8hrs out of a Genie battery - two of these and some top-up liquid and I'm sorted for a long day when out and about! The Mighty Atoms run for 4-5hrs which is the price paid for them being smaller. :)

Well it is really a case of how heavy and how frequent you inhale them..
I would have to agree with Pete, because I do vape like a fog machine, like a baby on a pacifier... :)

Mine lasts between an hour to 2...

Lmao baby on a pacifier describes me as well......I actually think it's amazing if the batteries last for an hour.
