I'm tired of the "drug talk!" The mods here do a great job of trying to clean it up, but with all the problems we are facing right now, why do "WE" need to keep pushing the issue? Why even think about mentioning it, much less mention it? Why do vendors insist on selling things labeled as such? I was at my B&M yesterday while they mixed up some Grape for me, a guy comes in and gets a bottle of ".... ...."! REALLY? We don't have enough problems with police and society thinking we are doing something illegal to start with, so lets load it up with something that tastes and smells like what they think we are doing to make it easier on them?
I plan to have a talk with the owner next time I visit, I hope I'm in a better state than I was yesterday as I knew it wouldn't go well!
Am I the only one that sees this as a problem waiting to happen, or am I just making something out of nothing?

Personally - and maybe this is just me - I am more sketched out by people who WON'T allow any "drug talk".

There is really only one substance that is ever mentioned or parodied in the vaping community; you know the one I mean. That substance and the culture surrounding it has permeated every aspect of our society: cheech & chong, snoop dogg, michael phelps, raggae, college, baby boomers, hippies... most popular music is associated with this substance - it has its own genre of comedy films, many of which are very popular in the mainstream - it has TV shows now too, and is legal/decriminalized in some form in 18 states. Nobody bats an eye, except the most hardcore of traditionalists, and if anyone thinks those people will ever accept vaping I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

On a related note, many vendors sell alcohol-themed flavors: bourbon this, cognac that, even "Budweiser". Alcohol is a drug. Alcohol is illegal to some vapers (18-20y/o in the US). Why aren't we worried about folks claiming e-cigs will get you drunk? Why aren't we afraid that vaping will be grouped in with some seedy alcoholic subculture?

Censorship sketches me out. What are we hiding? We have nothing to hide, or to fear. North Korea uses censorship, because they have terrible things to hide. Big Tobacco used censorship for many years (probably still do), because they have things to hide. We have nothing to hide. There are more topics on here about drugs than there ever would be if we didn't attempt to censor it; this topic, for example, is clearly about drugs and would never exist on this forum if we stopped being such babies about it. It is one thing to remove a thread called "How can I put X and Y in my juice", because that directly promotes illegal activity. Complaining about funny names or old timers' swapping college stories, however, is silly and counterproductive.

I see two reasons to censor that kind of talk. First, this is a forum provided for our use that has rules. If one of those rules is not to mention a substance then you have to abide by that rule or leave. BTW, this site is based in the UK so the Bill of Rights does not apply. Also, we are posting on what is essentially private property, and again, the Bill of Rights does not apply.

Second, with the FDA, ANTZ, etc. looking for every reason to regulate and/or ban e-cigs it is in our own interest to limit what certain searches on the internet return related to this site. By claiming that kind of talk should be allowed because it is your right you are effectively shooting yourself in the foot. You can call an MMA fighter an idiot if you want but be prepared to suffer the consequences.

Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

there will always be low classed people. Walk into any liquor store and you can find yourself a "nice" bottle of vodka ; all the while the person next to you is buying the same bottle, but he may be wearing a wife beater tank top, sporting ,tattoos, speaks loudly and rudely on his cell phone, swearing all the while and making an ... of himself and presenting himself as a piece of trash. But who wins in this situation?
Everyone does because, you get your vodka, so does he, and the liquor store makes 2 sales. The only thing you can do sometimes is ignore it because some people are just ....ed up and there aint .... u can do about it as much as it bothers you

It may indeed have a use and place in society but as a vaping community we need to look beyond that. It has the potential to ruin all the hard work we are putting forth to make vaping acceptable. If it is associated with that substance then it will be much easier to squash vaping. My opinion on that substance is favorable but I see the need to censor myself out of a want for vaping to be separated from it.

Why do we need to add fuel to the anti-vaping fire just because it is our right to do so? You have the right to yell FIRE in a crowded movie theater. Next time you go to a movie, try it and let me know how it works out for you. Sometimes our desire to exercise our rights blinds us to what the end result will be. And, generally there was never really a need to exercise your right at that particular moment except for the fact that you are sticking it to the "man".

I've no problem with it's use or benefits or lack there of. I don't care if you want to use it or not.
But this isn't the place to discuss it and I think any discussion of it's use in APV's is nothing but detrimental to keeping vaping legal and available.
I've not seen any "What Bill and Jim Bob used to do" threads, I have seen a lot of questions on how to utilize what we use to vape with to vape a substance that is illegal for many of us to use, and according to the DEA still illegal to use. Remember, it may be legal in a state, but the feds don't agree with that yet!
Also with the FDA and God knows who else looking at us from under a microscope, we don't need to give them any more reasons they already have!
There are plenty of sites to learn and discuss this topic on that welcome this activity. This is a site about vaping and for vapors, I just ask we keep it clear which site we are on.

This argument sheds light on why many other countries have issues with Americans and why we get such a bad name in those countries. We are too busy exercising our rights rather than exercising intelligence. I say again, just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD. Everyone thinks that just because there is wording in our Constitution preserving free speech that they are free to say what they want, when they want.

The right to free speech only applies to speech to and/or against our government. It does not give you the right to come to my house (private property) and start bad mouthing me and my family. You can of course speak your mind but I can also respond accordingly. In my house it is my rules. The same thing applies here. If you aren't cool with rules then you do not have to post here.

Guys, calm down... I never said anything about asserting my rights or anything like that... Nor do I indulge in ANY discussion anywhere on the net with the subject of the substance in question. So, I know it isn't "me" your talking about here. I prefer to gleen my knowledge on that particular subject in print form anyway...books and mags.

Well, in the US I can buy 70 varieties of firearm and 400 rounds at wal-mart, so I can call an MMA fighter whatever I want. :p

In all seriousness, you make good points, but my real issue has more to do with effectiveness than any high-falutin' principles. The search return argument is a good one, and well-merited, but we are dealing with ANTZ here: they can easily find threads like this one, of which there are many, where the topic is obvious but simply obscured in shady language.

"I'm tired of the "drug talk!" with all the problems we are facing right now, why do "WE" need to keep pushing the issue? Why do vendors insist on selling things as such? Am I the only one that sees this as a problem?"

Whoops, I sent his quote off but it seems I may have accidentally edited it a bit! ANTZ don't care. ANTZ aren't going to say "whelp, googled 'ecf' and nothing bad came up so I guess vaping's cool and I'll find something else to do." No, they will comb this forum with eagle eyes - these are zealots remember - they will find every thread about exploding batteries, every thread about diacetyl, every thread about PG allergies or nic spills or 'I started vaping and now I have diabetes' questions from confused newbies. They will go through the "outside" board and pull the best quotes from right-wing nutjobs and crazy hippies alike. They will find topics - 'where is the craziest place you have vaped?', 'do you vape around your kids', 'do you blow vape rings at your cat?', 'this vendor ripped me off', 'should we help non-smokers with vaping'... I could go on and on. As we already know, if they can't find bad info, they will just make it up. The average citizen isn't going to comb ecf to see if the supposed 'I use my provari to kill puppies for fun' thread actually exists.

As for rules, they should be abided by, but there is no harm in arguing for change. That is a basic part of every community on earth - internal discussion and analysis of existing policies. My anger stems from the fact that we are allowing the ANTZ to dictate how our community operates, and in some ways how it views itself. We are playing defense, simply reacting to the perceptions (not even perceptions: our perceived perceptions) of a small group of zealots who will oppose and slander us regardless of anything we do. To cede the moral initiative is to cede the war.

I see your side of it as well. It is not hard for the ANTZ to either find or produce whatever "evidence" they want. But if we can show that we are making an attempt to distance ourselves (as a community) from other activities then that may have weight in a legal light. By embracing that subculture we are effectively saying that vaping equals that.

That thing my have its place (and my opinion is that it does) but we are not doing ourselves any favors by embracing it. Sometimes there are hard choices to make and only by making those choices can progress be made.

I have never seen a thread on this forum about intention to mix illegal substances with PV's, and that is a good thing. Those threads absolutely should be removed ASAP, every single one. Props to our mods for superb work; I have never seen a thread like that here. I have noticed a difference between admins/mods and some laypeople (like myself) on this policy - perhaps it is because they are seeing (and removing) many topics which never last long enough for my simple eyes to see. Perhaps it is because I check this forum once or twice a day, and it is not a job or huge hobby for me.

It is a PitA when I want to ask DIY questions about TFA's "reggae nights" flavor and have to use clever wordplay to even start the topic, or when I wish to post in the lounge about music and cannot even write the title of a song I like. That's what I know.

Maybe there is a big difference in what various groups are actually seeing here; maybe this is why tensions run so high sometimes. I will have to ponder this...

I agree. Welcoming that with "open arms" just puts us in a place where we have to defend it that much more. NO, I don't like having to take the defensive stance, but it seems we are having to do that with about all of our rights at this point in history. There's no need to give them anymore ammunition then they are willfully fabricating!

I can understand your frustration. It is sometimes a pain to broach certain topics that have nothing to do with that but can be associated with it. But I go back to my last post. Certain choices have to be made and sometimes there is collateral damage. I will gladly accept that if it keeps vaping on the up and up.
