Ok, it looks even better on my Galileo. Maybe it's just because the Galileo is prettier... :D Or maybe it's because the Veritas is a bit slimmer than the usual, it appears to be 20mm rather than 22mm.

Sweet. Now I will have to try a vertical build in my Veritas !

I figured out, when I put it on the Galileo, that the harshness was very likely because I had recently turned up the wattage a bit on the Kick that's in the Fallen Angel, I think it's about about 11w. For my regulated mods with Kayfuns, I usually have it set about 10w, but with my magma, on a Kicked-mech, I've found that 9w is actually a better sweet spot.

Possibly could be because of it being the first vertical I've ever built/vaped.

Ok, I got done with all the many and varied things I had to do, got it built (that 4mm thingy was the best tool for the task, after all). Hits great; maybe a little harsher than my Magma, but I can play with it; it's just my first build -- so don't laugh! No I don't compress my coils, and this is the first vertical I've EVER done, so it looks a bit... drunk? :D But it works, and I was able to turn the airflow down pretty well, to do the mouth hits that I like.

Looks real pretty on my Fallen Angel...

Just leave whatever you coiled the wire around in the coil until you set the legs....

I did that with the bottom leg, but took it out with the top one; when I tightened that one, it deformed the coil a good bit, so I had to manually try and straighten it out, enough so that the coil wasn't touching the atty itself. My husband doesn't vape and knows diddly about it, but he pointed out that I had wrapped the leg in the wrong direction. But at that point I already had it wicked, so I said hell with it and went on and vaped with it. With my horizontal coils, the direction I wrap the leg around the screw doesn't matter a lot, so far I've had no issues with it, but with this vertical in this atty, I can see it's a huge factor.

I'll be fiddling with it more, and trying a horizontal coil too, to see how a virtually-identical coil behaves in the veritas vs. the magma. But I've always wanted to try a vertical, so I thought this was a good atty for my first try, the way it's arranged kinda lends itself to that configuration. And i think this atty with a vertical gives me a lot of incentive to get some KGD cotton; I've gotten to the point that I just don't care for the taste I get with rayon.

As I've been rebuilding Protank-2 coils for several years now (PT2, PT2-mini, EVOD BCCs) I'd say I do enjoy a single coil with a nice tight mouth-lung draw. Lately, though, I've had a Plume Veil to work with.

The last three weeks I've had twisted 28g dual coils @ .5 ohm which seemed to work okay (obviously a completely current experience). After perusing thus thread I pulled one of the coils, leaving the build at 1.04-ish and closed off the air hole on the unused side. Well...this gave me practically the same performance as the dual, even dropping the power down from 25w to 20w. Don't think I really need both coils; now I have a backup lol. The twisted 28 seems pretty sturdy and resilient; I've been dry burning and rinsing them off and re-wicking since early this month.

But wait! I should have vapemail coming today with a mini Buddha! Single coil RTA, I'll probably try plain 28 as well as twisted 28 and see how they fare, but single coils seem to be where I'm at.

I also like single coils and like Andria, I have asthym & copd. I have really enjoyed hear comments.. I usually like around 1.8 -2.0
I am not into sub and never do lung hits.. I have just started using 30 gauge Kanthal, mostly I use 32. Hoping 30 will be a little longer lasting as I like dark, sweet juices.. I make my own, but the other day I order a sample pack and oh they had the best banana nut bread.. Could not put it down..lol I usually have a least four different juices so I can vap on several and during the day and night..
I still like my evods and have a couple glass protanks, lemo.. the lemo is nice but have to close most of the air off...

Starting out, I was really big into dual coil builds, but as I'm getting more into the "coil porn" kinds of builds I'm slowly realizing there's no need for dual coils. Using my Darkhorse RDA in dual coil mode andwide open I'm still getting amazing flavor from my single coils. I usually try to keep my builds between .2 and .4 ohms. Anything lower than that usually tastes like fiery hot, burnt .... juice and slaughters batteries.

You know I used single coil units from 2006 though 2008 and then my atomizers became hard to find ( a ViVi Nova). So I went to duel coil (VFAT). I still like to build a single coil about 1.6 ohms in my rda's. The sub-ohm tank I use has only one coil now. I use that for most of my out and about vaping. It still run's at .5 ohms and has amazing flavor and vapor. However some liquids I am using now just taste better when I run a duel .5 ohm coils in my rda.

I'm running a six wrap 32awg single coil at 2.5ohm's in an authentic Russian 91% on a Provari 2.5. I like this setup and put it together deliberately for the sole reason of replicating a cigarette. It's my go to device first thing in the morning.

I used to like the stock coils that came with the Protanks, Protank II's. I continued to rebuild those coils all the time i used the Protanks. Those that don't get the connection the coil on my Russian is the same as the Protank coils i used to use. I moved to the Russian because the Protank was labour intensive to rebuild, needed to replace grommits and the vape wasn't consistant enough.

Later in the day i do need something with more of a kick and the Russian simply doesn't provide that. As the morning wears on my throat gets accustomed to it and i need something more. So by 11am i'm using a Subtank Mini with a 0.5 coil at 25 watts on a Vamo v7 and that does the job. I just need something that hits a lot harder and the Subtank does that.

A single coil is what i've always used. It's what i'll continue to use.

Sometimes though i get out my Youde Goliath and fire it up, hammer the hell out of it for the afternoon. Dual coils are just nice to have sitting around ready to fire up whenever the mood takes me. And when i'm done with that i'll strip it down, clean it, then rebuild it ready for next time. Like i said it's good to have a dual coil sitting on the backburner.:)

So, I got my Achilles clone by Yeahsmo form Frog in Fog yesterday. I do believe this little beauty was made specifically for M-T-L single coil vapers like me ! Currently running a 1.4 ohm coil with rayon wicking, set up on a ProVari P3.
This little dynamo is All About the FLAVOR ! It has a Kayfun style air inlet, through the side of the base and up into the center. There is a set screw type AFC, I have mine flush with the base. This produces a nearly cigarette-like draw. But it is the Flavor that really grabs one's attention. Two elevated posts on either side of the air inlet, designed for single coil operation. Deep juice wells on either side of the build platform, I've been told it will hold nearly 2ml of juice.
I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys vaping a single coil setup.

I use only two coils at least. Sometimes 3 or 4. For the devices that I own, the extra coils are needed to maximize the flavor, and warm vapor, while using the airflow for deep lung hits. Its just a different way of vaping. Not everyone wants to vape exactly like they used to smoke cigarettes. For me, it is something completely different (and far more enjoyable).

I never said I wanted to vape "exactly like I used to smoke" pipes, cigars and cigarettes. That's not what this thread is about.

I started this thread because there are plenty of people, and threads, that truly enjoy sub-ohming and multi-coil setups. Some of my favorite people on the ECF are admittedly seeking "MOAR VAPOR !" I personally have nothing against this concept. I have tried as low as 0.4 ohm dual coils, but I just didn't like it. Just my preference is all.
I think if you review this thread you would find most of the participants here agree with the concept of single coil, lower wattage vaping. It is simply what we are comfortable with. There have been a few who have stopped by and politely stated their own preference in dual and multi-coil setups. No hard feelings, to each their own.

Hoping mine will arrive soon! Glad you like yours, and sounds like the same set up I'll be using, can't wait!
