Am I the only one who uses attys and carts?

Thus far, I've found that a SR Joye 510 atty* and a clear cartridge (like these) is far and away my favorite delivery system. The only real "fiddling" I have to do is replacing the tiny bit of wicking material with blue foam (which is incredibly easy and low maintenance). Once I do that, I can reuse the cart almost indefinitely and it's INCREDIBLY easy to refill and switch juices (one of my pet peeves with cartos). The atty doesn't run dry until the cart is empty. It's really about as low-maintenance and inexpensive as it gets. It doesn't matter if I'm using watery 100% PG juice or 100% VG like Boba's, it just works perfectly every time.

I've tried Boge LR cartos, Ikenvape SR and LR cartos, and a few others and I still find that I keep going back to to the atty/cart combo. Flavor and vapor production is just as good, if not better IME. The only carto that I think I will buy more of is Ikenvape's Single-Coil 1.6Ohm clear carto. I'm pretty impressed with the performance of those on my e-power, but I don't like the inability to switch flavors. Life-span on these is still to be detemined.

I don't ever hear anyone talking about this particular setup, which got me to wondering if I'm the only one. Anyone else out there using this?

* I've tried some off brand attys and they've been hit or miss. The Joye attys are perfect, though. I still have all of the 10 I purchased over a month ago for about $4.5 a pop and don't expect to have to buy more anytime soon.

You're not alone, goodtimes. At home I'll often use a cart/atty combination on my eGo or Riva fat batts.

But cart/attys do have that fiddle-factor problem. Especially if you're a chain-vaper, you're fairly often fiddling with refilling the cartridge using teeny bottles, and that's just too difficult when you're out and about. Alternatively, you can carry a bunch of filled carts and swap them out frequently. Then, if you haven't been careful, you wind up with eliquid on your fingers.

For out-of-the-home, I use echo-e cartomizers. They have all the disadvantages of cartos you point out, but at least they hold an amazing amount of eliquid, they're fairly easy to clean, and they are fairly indestructible.

I tried those for a while and loved them with the stock filler. Once it needed to be replaced I never could get it to wick correctly no matter what filler I tried or the amount. I also found out they work great with some attys and not so great with others, I guess the bridge has to be in exactly the right spot and the right size and that can vary between attys.

If it's working for you then stick with it, nothing like a setup that just works and works well.

That may be the critical factor. The 1ml carts last me most of the day. Even switching flavors 2-3 times a day, though, I don't find them burdensome. Not as easy as just swapping carts I suppose but, all things considered, they still seem to be lower maintenance. I guess a lot of it does depend on your particular situation...

The Joye 510 atty is an almost perfect device it seems to last forever. Mated with an Ego every draw is perfect.

I too have found that cartos are loaded with problems and inconsistencies and I'm constantly fiddling with them to get the flavor just right. I am using the cartos right now on my Halo G6 because I prefer the way the device looks compared to an ego but that is a pretty lame reason.

I may try these clear carts!

Almost identical setup here, 510 attys and blue foam carts, which work especially well with VG juice. I use different attys for different flavor types. About 10 minutes a day to dry burn the attys, nice clean taste. The attys, foam and carts will last a long, long time. Stocked up on juice too, so don't have to think about it for a while. I too found Joye Attys of superior quality, have not lost one yet in 4 months.

I gave up on carts within the first 2 weeks i got into e-cigs. Many people have many different preferences, what matters is that you found out what works best for you to keep you off the cigs. That is always the most important thing. Now, it never hurts to try something new every now and then. This hobby is constantly pushing out new improvements and methods for getting that perfect vape! Keep on vaping and doing what you enjoy the most!

Sorry wv2win..... I'd consider dripping to be in the same league as this.... In other words....

I do the same thing... except for... I skip the foam and just drip (my choice). But atty/cart... yes. You are not alone!!!!

P.S.

Where did you get 10 Joye 510 SR atties at $4.50 each?

I'm not sure how you can consider "dripping" the same as using a cart and messing with filler?

I do the same thing as AttyPops, I just use the 510 LR atomizer though. I think there is a huge difference in flavor and vapor between the regular 510 atomizer and the LR atomizer. I use the 650 Ego batteries.

I quit using the cartridges with filler in them a long time ago. I don't even use a mouthpiece (drip tip) with the LR atomizer. For me something gets lost in the flavor as soon as I put on that half inch drip tip. I drip into the atomizer and inhale straight from it...all day long. Rarely does it get too hot on my lips. Even if it does it's usually when the battery is about to die or juice needs to be added.

Carts and their weaknesses launched me into the ECF. They also were a critical stepping stone in my quitting tobacco. I still have my original carts that have been through the various mods and now hold blue foam, if I ever need 'em. In fact, I'll use 'em before I pull out the 'tanks', more flavor and vapor with carts.

Just to clarify, I can't stand the standard carts (though I never tried them with blue foam). I tried the ones that came with my first Joye 510 kit and hated them instantly. Seems I could only get a few minutes out of them before the atty ran dry even with lots of liquid in them. The clear carts I linked to are worlds apart from those standard carts performance wise.

Same physical device(s). Different juice location. I didn't say it was the same, just the same league. (Atty + cart)

FYI - if you didn't know.... it's called tailpipe-ing (and for good reason, IMO. Hot!)

Good to know. May have to try em and go back to cart filling, rather than atty dripping!

My bad. They're actually about $4.70 a piece (before shipping) from Vapor Kings. Still, best deal in the vaping world if you ask me!

Thanks!

EDIT: Crap. They're 2.2 ohms. I need 3.0 ohms since I vape @ 5 volts. Dang. :(

Even the tiny stock carts take 10 drops (1/2 ml) of Dekang RPG (50/50) juice with blue foam and each lasts me > 1 hour of heavy, almost non-stop vaping. I fill 10 carts in a tray, 5 minutes twice a day and I'm done. Those clear carts will double that, will try them out. Another 10 minutes for drying burning all attys each day (not always needed), not that much work and dirt cheap. :)

There are a number of reasons I switched to a carto. The biggest being that I got into the habit of topping-off while driving. I don't do that with my prefilled cartos. Second I got concerned about particles of material making its way into my lungs because the large vent slots in my 510 carts. With the needle-width vent holes in my carto, I don't worry so much about it.

Convenience is a personal preference. Safety is not.

Yeah, that would worry me too. Fortunately, with these clear tank carts I don't think that's any more likely than with the cartos.

Here's the one I'm using right now. The arrow is pointing to the vent slot, which is quite small and far removed from the foam.

There is some condensation in the air passage but I have never gotten any liquid or other particles in my mouth with one of these...
