Am I the only one?

Am I the only one who is told by some people in other forums which are not necessarily stop smoking ones (FB for example) to watch out incase your E-Cig blows up in your face.. "I have a friend who has a friend had this happen to them" etc etc. I mean really? if they were that dangerous they would not be on the market, if as many blew up as we keep hearing then the product would be recalled and not still for sale. I wish these people would just hush and support our decision instead of worry us over something the media has blown up all out of proportion without the proper facts. SMH

Don't charge them in a hot car and don't charge them unattended. The off brand cigalikes and egos don't have the best quality control but the problem comes into play when charging, not use. I've only seen two cigalikes and I think three egos pop in four years so not that big a worry. A little care when charging and nothing to worry about.

I made sure I bought the matching charger and never charge it unattended and never for more than the manufacturers guidelines state. Its just crazy though the amount of people who are all negative and like SNOT posted that a these people have a "friend whose bigger brother had an aunt who had a friend who had a boss who had a friend whose daughter" had this happen to them. He hit the nail on the head right there stating they were BS stories. Negativity begone!! :)

I have been told that the battery can blow up but only if you are not using the right charger for the job. I have done quite a lot of research on the negatives to electronic cigs and my conclusion is the positives out weigh the negatives! A LOT!!!!

agreed, positives do outweigh the negatives

RG1971, I don't know if you remember a couple of years ago the big CFL light bulb thing. Seems everyone and his brother knew of someone who had a Compact Fluorescent Light bulb break, resulting in the EPA being called and a haz mat team cleanup, (because fluorescent lights contain trace amounts of mercury), which inevitably resulted in a cleanup bill approaching $10 thousand dollars.

They completely ignored the fact that fluorescent bulbs have been used in homes, businesses, stores, factories, medical facilities for decades and no one ever needed a hazamat team to clean up a broken bulb. Also conveniently ignored was the fact that mercury was in every old style thermometer, most oven and home heating/cooling thermostats, and no one ever needed a haz mat team to remove them either.

Well the same type of ignorance is going on with Ecigs, yes lithium batteries can be dangerous if misused, abused, poorly made, or charged with the wrong type of charger, or under the wrong conditions, like a super hot car. These people have taken a small grain of truth and turned it into a mountain of B.S. Of course the truly stupid and/or willfully ignorant don't like facts, and have no use for them. But misinformation, especially if it involves greatly exaggerated danger, now that they like.

I looked at this before I bought the E-Cig, just wish others would do the same before they tell me it will blow up in my face, as though they were experts and not just going with stories they heard and media BS.

You are not the only one. Interesting choice of username by the way, I am RG1970 on a forum somewhere.
E-cig batteires can blow up, so can laptop and mobile batteries. Trouble is, nobody object to these items, whereas some people see e-cigs as evil or cheating or ???

P.S. How are you finding the VIP?

P.S. How are you finding the VIP?

I find it really good actually ty for asking, gives me the nicotine I crave in the look of a cigarette and tastes nice as well. The gum etc made my throat dry and sore when I used them to the point they made me want to choke with a gag relfex but the VIP doesn't. Takes care of my cravings and still makes my hands and mouth think I have a real cig in them. So far so good :)

It's funny, more and more I see this happening. Twice last week I was walking through the city and saw fellow vapors puffing away and BOOM, their batteries exploded leaving them in black face like the early Tom & Jerry cartoons when people thought that was funny until they were told it's racist. So I read some newspapers and found out it was happening elsewhere.

At first, the NSA and Home Land Security thought the increasing number of battery explosions were a result of terrorism. So they blamed Al-Qaeda, who gets blamed for everything. Al-Qaeda was put out a press release that said "Hey, we swear to Allah this is not us! This is not Al-Qaeda's doing! We know we are an evil mass of uneducated, unwashed douche bags with no dental coverage and very poor tooth brushing habits, even after sleeping with our goats but small batteries blowing up is not our style. You will know it was us when one of us is killed by burning your American flag and accidentally lighting ourselves on fire or by aiming the RPG backwards into the cave where we are hiding in our glory as we attempt to drop one of your fancy airplanes. And BTW, Al-Qaeda does NOT force its women to cover themselves up like that. They do it because apparently we men smell horribly after months of sleeping in our caves of victory and so they cover themselves from head to toe so none of us know who is who - hence our desire for the goats. And FYI to my fellow Al-Qaeda brothers, the Sex in the City movie marathon is this week and Ha-bibs house. Bring popcorn and soda. We will continue our discussion of which one looks like the sexiest goat."

Turns out ecig batteries just explode for no reason to make people look like they are in 1940's black face after all. The Chinese still think that's hilarious.
