Okay, so this may be a weird question, but I'm looking for some general direction. ALL my DIY liquids were made during the month plus period where I had no dentures, and I was finding that I LOVED my subtle vapes, but I had so many more mucus membranes to absorb flavors and tastes, due to not having large chunks of plastic attached to my face all the time.

Now that oral surgery is (largely) over and I usually have my dentures *in* I am finding the flavorings I loved to be somewhat anemic, and to not have much taste. I think that's in large part due to the fact that I'm covering large portions of my mouth with dentures.

I use FA flavorings, I was using them in the 2--3% ratio, which I know is low. I generally use pretty basic flavoring profiles but will mix similar juice profiles inside my tank, which was also working well for me... Until now. I don't add extra sweeteners or anything else, though I am accepting the possibility that I may have to do so.

I'm wondering about recommendations about how to flavor UP and how MUCH, and whether using a more complex recipe and allowing my flavors to steep and blend *together* would be a better approach, and if I need to add extra sweeteners, what I should be using? I can barely taste my vape at times, except for nasal floral notes.

I know I'm going to have to experiment with this, but I'm kind of wondering if anyone would wish to chime in with a flavor ratio I might try to start, an additive of some kind to boost flavor, or a sweetener of some kind, that I may have to add to my juices? All I have at the moment is my tongue, dentures cover the roof of my mouth, and much of the gum line where my teeth *would have* been....

Sorry, I know it's an odd question, I'm at a bit of a loss. I did add flavoring to the juices I have premixed and re-steeped them, but I'm not really sure at this point how much flavoring I'm at, and it's clearly not enough. The only flavor I taste really well is mixed berry flavor, but I kind of have a love/hate relationship with that one, and it's really strong and kind of sweet and was like that out of the gate.

Any input welcomed, thanks guys! :)

You are going to have to experiment. There is really no set ratio. Each flavor on it own is different. Some are 2-3% and some can require 10% or more. Some are just more potent than others.

They also change over time. Some good right after mixing some take a week or even 2 months to mature.

Okay, thanks Beamslider. I am curious about adding sweetener to some mixes, as I know people do it, and I'm totally unsure what to use... I guess I'll poke around and do some experimenting. I guess it would be reasonable to start at 5--6% and go from there.... And it's my understanding that many store bought flavorings are around 10%-ish?

Thank you, though.

Thanks puffon, that's what I'm afraid of, my coils loved my non-sweetened juices and they extended their life considerably, but I think for some of them, I'm going to have to add *some* to really bring out the flavor of say, a Bavarian cream, it's just so subtle without sweeteners in it. Gonna do some research on actual recipes I think, and start with something more middle of the road, good to know about percentages though, thank you.... :) My coils and I are just going to have to live with it, since I do like to taste my vape. :)

All good info above. I'll add that there are lots of flavor and aroma sensors in the sinuses. For now, try exhaling though the nose to sense those nuances of the juice that aren't being sensed in the mouth.

There's always the French Inhale technique. Push the vapor out of the mouth while inhaling it through the nose.

Both those options will help you detect aroma of the flavors that you are missing.

Do'h. I just figured out my new tank, the Kabuki V2, apparently mutes flavor completely in the coil a day or so prior to going bad... Which I did taste. Now that I'm on a new coil, my flavor has returned! Either that or I had vaper's tongue for a while without realizing it, but I really think it was my coil. Either that or my new higher power juices have steeped enough to be noticeable.

I really think it was the coil, as my flavors do taste more intense, now that I'm tasting again. What an odd thing, but actually quite useful, as if my coil goes bad again, I'll be able to fish it out of there prior to it burning completely, and I bet I'm going to be able to reuse for longer after I do my rinse/cycle/repeat coil cleaning thing.... Or, it may've been vapers tongue, but I really don't think so.... Now I wish I'd tried vaping a different tank to see if I could taste flavors in that. I will be trying that next time, to rule out vaper's tongue, though I started tasting the burnt flavor early on, so I really don't think it was that.

Interesting. Now I'm trying the 1.8 coil in there (really like it) prior to trying some TC coils...

I'm really glad I won't be having to add extra sweeteners in my e-juice to further gunk coils, though I am finding that a bit more flavoring in my e-juice is all to the good and I got a lot of good advice in this thread that I will be saving for future reference, since I do want to experiment with mixing flavors in a recipe, so thank you all for your assistance! :)

Also, my coil life was pretty stellar in the Kabuki compared to the Nautilus 2, so it was nice. :)

I actually taste food better with my dentures in since I can chew it :) I can see how a partial might be different but really now that my coil is new, I'm tasting my e-juice just like before if not slightly more, so I'm sort of doubting the denture theory. I'll have to see when this coil goes bad, if it mutes everything first... Would kind of make sense if not as much juice is passing through the coil as usual...

I think you are on the right track Anna. I notice similar performance issues with my coils. I am not "excited" about building, so I tend to push my coils, waaaaay beyond most reasonable vapers. The loss of flavor, along with extended heating times (almost like I am using a nearly dead battery), are the telltales that I can't put it off any longer.

The flavor loss is pronounced enough, that I can notice it in my dedicated "unflavored" tank; it goes from a slightly sweet vape, to nothing at all.

Glad you seem to have it figured out!:D:thumb:
