Hi people, Myself and GF are flying from Heathrow UK to the US in April 2015. Just wanted to know what peoples experience is regarding How we should pack all of our 'stuff' ? . I have spent awhile researching on the web including American Airlines website, I found a post dated 2012, so was quite a old post so methinks maybe not relevant anymore. And am still a bit concerned as the situation does not seem clear to me.

Please help
Thanks in advance for any replies

Well, Lithium batteries and butane are not allowed as carry on I can tell you that!

You would have to pack them in another bag that you can't bring on the plane with you. You have to pay for a bag to be stored in the cabin (where people aren't allowed) and store your batteries and fuel in their.

You should be fine bringing your unusable vape on board with no batteries in it though!

Edit: Now that I think about it.. I had a ego pen vape in my carry-on. Too bad I didn't realize that because it's a federal offense :p

Last time I flew they didn't have a problem with me carrying on my mod fully assembled and ready to use. I just had to run it through the scanner like everything else. In fact there were quite a few people vaping in the smoking areas in the terminal.

As for vaping on the plane, you can get away with it in the bathroom as long as you don't fog the place up. I would avoid blowing any large clouds that could set off the smoke detector, but as long as you keep the vapor you produce to a minimum and give it a moment to settle and dissipate before you walk out and no one should know the difference.

I flew JFK to heathrow and back recently and am a frequent business traveler. All your vape gear can go on the plane. Liquids must meet the 30ML (3oz) or less per container requirement and all must fit in a one liter zip lock bag. Batteries CANNOT be put in checked luggage and must be carried on. Use on board is strictly prohibited. I have heard you can safely use a disposable in the lavatory and most find it best to hold in the vapor as long as possible to limit vapor emission. If you are flying coach class you will not be able to Stealth it in your seat, but I've heard you can in business class.

My recommendation for any international travelers: Do some due diligence for the country to which you are traveling and the airline that you are using just to ensure that you have no surprises.

I recently (October 2014) traveled from IAH (Houston) to Veracruz MX and had no issues with any of the equipment that I took. I only took the disassembled mech mod and atty, three 18650's and about 45 ml of juice in three 15 ml squeeze bottles - all in my carry on. The TSA agents didn't even bat an eye.
I didn't take the regulated mod because I had read online that e-cigs are illegal for import into Mexico and I absolutely didn't want it to get confiscated...but no problems at customs in either country.

Put your liquids in plastic bags in hand luggage along with the e-cig you are using before and after the flight.

Put Li-ion batteries and spare mods in your hold luggage. Find a way to "condom" the batteries, ideally, not for legality but safety.

I've had no trouble doing this, even to countries where e-cigs are supposedly illegal.

At Birmingham International, they even took my Vamo apart and swabbed it! :)

Wow thanks for all the replies so far.. Iam starting to feel more confident in what we are supposed to do with our 'stuff'. We don't have any mods just Ego twist type batteries and EVOD tanks.

Trust me, you are going to be fine with that gear. I bring much higher powered mods and a ton more juice for long trips and have had no issues. You will fly right through with what you've got.

Another trick I've learned, squeeze as much air out of the plastic bottles that your liquid is in and then cap them. The bottles look misshapen but they go back to their normal non squeezed self not long after you let the air back in them.

Batteries are ALWAYS in your carry on. Mandatory.

American Airlines will NOT let you vape on the plane. I have stealth vaped many times... sshhhhh

Liquids in plastic quart size ziplock bag. Place the gear in the x-ray tray so it is visible. Most all airport employees know what these are.

Vape on the plane. Just dont blow any smoke. Ive flown about 6 times since I started vaping.
Each time I vaped on the plane, Just careful enough to ghost the vape, Hold it in, inhale extra air, hold in a bit longer, exhale a bit, inhale a bit then exhale slowly. Its not somethng I do a lot, but when I need a quick bit of nic....its fine as is to go on to the plane, and to take in your pockets

The sub forum for this topic is here. ~> Travel and E-Cig As a new member you won't be able to post there until you get beyond the 5 post mark.

All the right info has been provided so far. Stick to the general rules for liquids and you will be fine for that. Batteries go in PV's or in secure plastic cases - never loose. If you don't already have plastic battery cases now would be the time to get some. All of it is carry on - not in checked baggage. And be prepared to demonstrate the PV works as an e-cig if asked.

As a practical matter - if you use clearo type devices empty them and transport in something leak proof anyway like an old pill bottle. Cabin pressure changes will force liquid out of clearos, makes both a mess of things and a waste of liquid.

I just spent a week in the Keys, and had no issues carrying a MVP20W and a MVP 3 with 2 Sub Tanks and 2 Nautilus Mini's and about 300mg of juice. I put the tanks and batteries in a Pelican case with with the pull a part foam (tanks upside down). I had 3 plastic bottles of juice going and they leaked in the zip lock bag. Got 4 60ml bottles of Nickoticket while I was there and paid more careful attention on the way home to make sure everything was upright and no leaks on the way home. In the future I now have a second Pelican case that's deeper and I will use it for bottles of juice upright once I'm through the screening process.

They looked at everything and made me open the case in Austin, no questions about it in Ft Lauderdale.

I would call the Airlines to Confirmed anything you hear on a Internet Forum. And if you Booked you passage thru a Travel Agent, I would contact them Also.

It would be Drag to get Held Up in an airport or to have to Fork Over you favorite Mod because you got some Not So Accurate Advise on a Forum.
