Unless they have cameras in my roomette, I don't see how they'd know.

I was thinking the same thing! Or if you don't have a roomette, hit the head... (Or make friends with someone who has a roomette!)

BTW, you edited out "the medical.....". Are they also prohibiting medical inhalers? Oxygen concentrators? That would be outrageous, IMO.

Actually, ECF edited out "the medical...."; the four dots represent the plant material that must not be named here on ECF. :)

Well  and ! Color me soooo naive, lol!

But honestly, I don't see how they can enforce a ban of ecigs as long as there's an enclosed and/or private space available! They're probably more concerned that no one vape openly or "appear to smoke"... (I'm planning to take a train trip at some point in the future. Now I have a good reason to book a roomette. Have a friend who *loves* the roomettes.)

people still ride amtraks?

you'd think they'd do their best not to piss off the entire 10 people who still take the train in the states.

My mom, who is 85 and not fond of flying, takes the auto train from VA to FL a couple of times a year to visit my sister. The train is usually pretty full, but not overcrowded, and she finds it a very pleasant way to travel: nice attendants and new people to chat with at dinner. She tells me the food is VERY good, much better than the peanuts/crackers served on the planes :)

I rode the Southwest Chief to Chicago round trip 4 times in the past year to go to various vape meets around the country. Unlike the auto train, the other Amtrak trains have had this policy for a long time. I did stealth vape occasionally on the train when I was in coach but generally just got off with the smokers at smoking stops. For my trip to VapeBash this year, I did get a roomette and I happily stealth vaped in my roomette, but still got off at smokers stops for some really good vapes. It's their policy and I'm okay with that. I can not fly due to tumors in my head which make flying painful. I enjoy the train. And it is always full.

My friend has taken the train north to Canada and back again and had a great time. Obviously it's not the way to travel if time is a factor, but for comfort you can't beat it. She had a roomette and said it was clean and comfortable, dining car food was terrific (she likened it to cruise ship cuisine), great staff. And, no baggage restrictions or extra charges, no security. She gets on and off about a mile from home both ways. I'd like to take a meandering trip cross country.

I luv traveling by train; relaxing, scenic and great for naps!

Guess on my next trip, I'll take an auto train and just stay in my vehicle except for food and restroom business...
