I use the KR808D-1 two piece with cartomizers. (Same as the VK) I’m new to e-cigs, having started just two days ago. (haven’t had an analog sense so I’m thrilled!) I tried to refill one of my cartomizers yesterday, but because is wasn’t completely depleated (trying to avoid the burnt taste from letting it get too dry that many say ruins a cartomizer for good) and I had no idea if it was ½ depleated, ¾ depleated, etc. I didn’t know how much juice to add. I ended up adding too much, and it leaked somewhat and became quite tough to draw. I’m sure I’d get better at judging these things with experience, but being the engineering type, I think I may have a better, more foolproof idea.

I’m thinking about buying a digital mini-scale with an accuracy of one hundredth of a gram (16 dollars on Amazon). I will then weigh a preloaded unused cart for my reference weight. Then I will place my partially depleated cartomizers on the scale and add drops of juice until they equals the reference weight of an unused pre-filled cartomizer. Seems like a great idea on the surface. Anyone see any potential problems with this plan?

I think it's a great idea. The problem it would be for me is on-the-go refilling. I'd only want to use the method at the home(no matter how portable, I'd find it a pain to whip it out, find a place to set the scale, then refill it, especially at work) and I'm home to sleep and shower. I think it would've been a good idea for me when first starting, it would help me learn how to judge it better. To each his own, and the only con I find in it and relying on it when you're refilling somewhere it's inconvenient to use a scale.

Also, I'm not sure if different juices are slightly different weight vs. volume. I find it very unlikely, but just a thought.

I thought about that. You're right, it's not convenient in the least on the go. I will only use it it home. I'm finding that two full cartomizers lat me all day and that's with some pretty heavy vaping. I plan on refilling only at home and carrying two or three carts with me on the go. Thanks for the reply!

That's exactly what I would do. I go through more carts depending on the flavor, but after a day it takes no time to find out approximately how long last a day. If I were to use the scale method, I would prefill how many I use throughout the day. A few advantages, in my opinion, such as less likely to flood the atty. Every time you have to blow it out that's a waste of precious liquid. You gain a better perspective on EXACTLY how much you use a day. Makes it much easier to plan ahead, especially when making eliquid purchases.

Regards,

The practice I've come to adopt in regard to refilling my carts and avoiding the ol' juice in the pie hole thing is:

Take that rubber shipping cap (they come with two) and punch a hole the same diameter as the draw hole...

Stick it on your carts as to leave a space that catches any extra juice.

With this set up you can just forgo the guessing game and keep yo fill fibers well lubed...

I never worry about running one dry, and never worry about over filling...

If I flood my atty so to speak I just draw off the extra into the cap...

Try it, and forget about doing the math...

fo

PS. the extra juice can be reinserted right back into your cart....

as you push the cap down, the extra juice is returned to the carts cap hole and is returned...

Put your finger over the hole for big loads..

Or buy a ultra precise scale...your choice of course

Regards
