Has anyone else noticed increased belching since using e-cigs?

I personally haven't had this problem, but I can see it happening.. your probably taking in and swallowing air.. just may be the way you use your e-cig device.. Many e-cig users have posted about dry/mouth and parched/throat which I have experienced also. Let me know what you think?

Meltrex is right...It is called Aerophagia..(swallowing air)..you'll get more Air into your stomach and you'll belch more..more prone for those who had history of gastritis.....but you'll be okay.... :D

Hi Doctor, I have got the <ahem> belching problem too. What do you mean by "you'll be ok". Do you mean this will lessen with time.. or that it is not something to worry about? (it sure is uncomfortable).

On the gastritis issue. I am not sure if I have got it, but reading about it, I have two of the habits that cause it: addition to cigarrettes and espresso! Should I be worried and see a doc?

Regards and thanks.

Hi Jegara...Aerophagia itself is quite common and harmless..it leads to alot of belching and burping..but not gastritis..that must be at least treated....cigarettes and coffee usually leads to alot of gastritis issue..called it GERD (gastro-oesophagitis reflux diseases..or Heartburn in Layman's term)..other food /beverages can cause it too...Tea/Onions/ Milk and Dairy products/ Fried, oily and spicy food/ Citrus or too sourish food / Alcohol/ chocolates/ and seen also in total Vegetarians..vegetables fibre are harder to digest but can lead to excess CO2 production....

Should see a doctor and get your blood checked for Helicobacter Pylori if you have recurrent gastritis...

hope this is not an information overload.... ;)

Definately quite informative. Many thanks doctor.

Probably I did not make myself clear in my previous post. The belching issue came only when I tried e-smoke. Ususally I almost never had this problem; It is my third day now with an e-cigar.. although I noticed that the belching is becoming less and less.

Since I have seen only one person complain of this (in relation to e-smoke) in the forum, I thought to bring it up since you are doing research on the subject.. so, have you seen this with your patients too? does it get less with time and without need for treatment?

Thanks again.

You're welcome.....actually none of my patients complained of this belching episode...mostly dry and parched throat(also due to Aerophagia) and numb tongue.....anyway I will put it in my list as a thing to watch out for......Thanks for your input... ;)

If the belching becoming lesser over time..that should bode well for you and if it does continue then try out some antacids and see whether it solve your problems or not..keep me informed if you don't mind....post it at the Health and medical site... :)

I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd post anyway. I'm on my 3rd day of e-cigs and about 5 hours ago got started burping and can't seem to get the air out of my stomach! I've been consciously NOT swallowing when I inhale, and then about 10-15 seconds after I put the e-cig down, here it comes again:cry:
