I use cartomizers exclusively on my bottomfeeders(REO Grand, 5V Journeyman, Phidias and Monkeyboxx), and I've had no problems, I just pre-fill them, then use the feed to keep them topped off as I vape.

I have never found a carto to work properly when feed from the bottom. Its because the juice gets soaked up where the air tube is and it just gurggles and doesn't fire.
Many Many Many people use the carto condom bottom fill method of filling their cartos, and that's putting juice right up into the bottom air hole... I don't see any reason why the Surge Tank wouldn't work with cartos.

You know what Zen... I've been thinking about this issue with cartos... I think its because I vape 100%VG it might not work for me ...
I'm gonna have to load one up and try it, most of what I use is 50/50. I think the next thing I'll be getting are some Ikenvape attys. Been hearing about them from different sources. Now I have a really good reason to use them.
The trick to using a carto with a bottom feeder is to not over feed juice to the carto. It causes the filler to swell, restricting the airflow.
If you pull your drip tip off and look inside and see dry filler, you might think you need to bottom feed more juice. This isn't necessarily so. Think about where the coil is inside your carto. As long as you keep that portion of filler wet, you won't scorch it and it will work well.

Now see, I even have trouble with tanks. I have one I use a punched carto with, and two I use slotted cartos.
The ones with the slotted cartos, you would think would work better; larger holes, more juice.
But, I get a burnt taste frequently with these, and I love the idea of tanks so it's frustrating.
Still after the perfect vape I guess.
I wind up doing a "suck-blow" type thing to get them to hit without tasting burnt/dry. And this is with any blend of juice I have, 100% VG or a blend that I believe is either 60/40 or 80/20. (depends on my flavor of the day)
Are the tanks working "too well" and getting too much juice in the bottom of the carto?
No problem ... I use to buy nothing but VaporNine Mega Cartos and worked well for me when I was on 60vg/40pg Mix but I found that I was having weird reactions to PG drying me out especially when I blow the vapor out of my nose and I get nose bleeds ... And PG for some reason taste like its gone bad and doesnt matter what flavor it is ...Don't feel like the Lone Ranger.
All I can offer is that you should keep in mind that cartos are mass produced and there can be a lot of variations in the filler material, how densely it's packed, and how well it wicks. There are a lot of variables that come into play when using slotted/punched cartos in tank applications, and which variables make them work well or not so well are not always easy to determine.
I've read the best feedback from folks using Boge and Fusion cartos. "Resurrectors" have been favorably mentioned many times, too.
Dual coil mega cartos either work well or dump all your juice out of the threaded end as soon as you fill your tank.
AGAIN, just my
Sorry, Ripp. Not trying to highjack your thread. Still waiting to see what kind of PV's you're gonna offer.![]()
