Relatively new to e cigs. I started last summer when my wife and I, after trying my brother's blu, decided to get our own starter kit. We used it on and off, but not regularly, until recently.

I use it pretty regularly now, and just ordered a halo starter kit which is en route as we speak. I've been experimenting a bit with some direct dripping on another 510 atomizer using my blu battery and some Johnson Creek Red Oak e juice my brother gave me. I have also been researching different equipment, juices, flavorings, etc. and watching a lot of online reviews.

I want to start mixing my own flavors eventually, but for now I'm going to stick with the Halo sampler from the starter kit and my leftover blu cartridges and cartomizers.

I smoked analogs (methol and clove) for about 10 years, roughly half a pack a day for the first 8 years, starting when I was 18. Then reduced to two cigs a day for a couple years, then quit (mostly). Though I would still smoke when I drank, usually "bumming" smokes off my analog smoking friends. I hate the stank of cigarettes, smoke, and ash, but I don't really want to quit nicotine, though I can and have gone weeks or months without it. I just don't want all the tar (soot), particles, carcinogens and other chemicals that come with commercially treated tobaccos.

I am enthused by the whole e cig concept and industry. I'm not convinced that e cigs are 100% healthy, but I know that they have to be MUCH healthier than inhaling burning tobacco (even without the additives). I'm mildly concerned about inhaling PG and VG vapor, as well as the chemicals in flavorings - all food grade and safe for consumption, but not meant for the lungs. I'm also a bit worried that the atomizer could be burning the fiber fill just a little bit, but overall I'm willing to take the risks that I'm certain are negligible compared to smoking or chewing tobacco.

Anything in moderation. Moderation for cigarettes might be one a year. 10,000 puffs a day on an e cig is probably not recommendable, but unless one totally overdoes it, I'm willing to bet my own health that casual use is probably fine.

welcome jlarsen , using an ecig/pv while drinking is all about knowing the device in the beginning, the first time out burned my leg with a battery too close. It may become easier for you in time.I don't vape or ever smoke unless drinking ,so its a subject that is familiar. The day you have the device down is the day you start to wonder "why in the world did I ever smoke?"the reason I state this is you do not smoke often and it doesnt seem a full time event.I have never smoked or vaped in 25 years more than twice a week.wish you the best, if you like going out its a long shot but maybe try some wyett earp.

Hey Welcome!, I also started with the Halo Kit!

Would you recommend it? Not that it matters, I'll have it in two more days, so there's no turning back now. I think Blu is a good company for those that have no intention of refilling cartridges, or mixing their own flavors, direct dripping, etc. But mostly I was less than impressed with the life of their atomizers, and the capacity of their batteries. I guess we got our money's worth out of the Blu kit we have, but I wouldn't order from them again.

Welcome :)

I wouldn't worry too much about the ingredients in e-liquids if you are switching from cigarettes or any other tobacco products. Afaik, all those ingredients are already in the tobacco products we were using before so that hasn't changed it's just that now we aren't using all the other stuff too.

Or, in other words, we've been inhaling this stuff for years already. Here's a list of 599 of the ingredients that are in cigarettes (fwiw, 3 of these ingredients are also in e-liquid):
599 Ingredients added to Cigarettes

Welcome to ecf! I have several Halo kits, and I have bought them for people I know. It is a great 510. The vape on it is exceptional for it's size. The battery life is pretty short though, so always keep one charging! Halo TruePure is my all day everyday, but I was a menthol smoker. I have not tried Torque56, but it has alot of fans. Let me know which is your favorite flavor.

Best wishes!!

Thanks. Actually one of the reasons I chose Halo was because I expected a longer battery life, or at least capacity per charge. I suppose it is relative. At 180 mAh, I was hoping they'd last longer than Blu's batteries which are supposed to only be 80 mAh (though they don't put all the specs on their website like Halo does). I know there are much more powerful batteries out there, but aren't they usually much larger and/or not 510 compatible? I like the idea of something that fits in a regular sized pack, like the Blu and the Halo cigs do.

I was a menthol analog smoker too, but mostly because it masked the ickyness of regular cigarettes and didn't cripple my lungs as badly as cloves (my one true analog love which is no longer legal). I plan on making some clove e juice eventually, and I like trying other flavors as well. Even tobacco flavors are better vaped than smoked.

I certainly don't miss the Carbon Monoxide headaches.

Every larger battery device can be used with the 510 atomizer. 180 mAh is tiny in today's world of vaping. You might get an extra half hour unless you only use your PV once every hour or two. If you get a better battery PV, you won't have to carry a PCC. And if you have never vaped with a better battery, such as good 5 volt PV, you have no idea just how much better the consistency, throat hit and battery life is. Most of us will get 6-8 hours on a charge. But the biggest advantage to HV vaping is the throat hit and the consistency. Plus, who wants anyone to think we are still pretending to smoke. I like the idea that my PV does not look like an analog. Much better acceptence. Good Luck to you, however.

Sorry, I'm not yet familiar with the terms PV, PCC, or HV yet. I just figured, for the same size and shape, an 180 mAh battery should last about twice as long as an 80 mAh one. I'll probably end up getting a bigger battery at some point, when money allows, at least for home use. But I'll stick with 510 compatible so I don't have to double up on atomizers and cartridges or mess around with adapters.

I'm not concerned with it looking like a cigarette per se, more with the portability (size) and ability to charge in a cigarette sized pack. I'm also not concerned with the throat hit per se, mostly the flavor and the amount of vapor (and the nicotine). But I've found that a higher VG juice produces much more vapor without a change in equipment - which is why I plan on mixing my own eventually.

More options are better than fewer, but sometimes it makes choices more difficult. :p

When you do decide to step into the bigger battery, you can get an eGo or a Riva and all your 510 atomizers, carts, cartos etc.. are totally compatible (and fwiw, you can get a whole Riva kit at Liberty Flights for $30 when you click the 20% discount button - so they prices are pretty reasonable).

Any time you see an abbreviation underlined with a dotted like you can hover your cursor over it and a pop up tells you what it stands for.

Try it here: PV, VG, PG, BP, BT :) (and HV stands for high voltage... HV e-cig give a warmer vapor that feels more like a real cigarette - a strong one)

I guess I'm a drinker at heart.. I like Wyatt Earp for my all day vape. (fwiw: I do drink either a beer or a glass of cheap wine every night, so I do fall into the "drinker" category)

your make a cheap drinker cheer ,Rosa. May the grapes grab you , the hops hold you , and the midnight not scould anything you take frm the night.
