I had this happen two months ago. I was waiting for a VERY important form by registered mail. I got two slips one week that she tried to deliver but left the slip for pickup. I was home and knew she didn't. So I called the post office and told them I was home every day, all day, and would be the next week as well. They said they'd make sure it was delivered. Next week came, and sure enough ANOTHER slip! I was more than upset at this point. I called the post office AGAIN, and they said sure enough they had it and would make certain the mail carrier knocked on my door the next day.

Now, this is where I got ...., but hey, I was MAD. I got my camcorder and laid in wait. Saw her coming down the road. The mailbox is right outside, and I could record from a living room window without being seen. Up to the mailbox she drove, dropped envelopes in, and drove to the next house. I immediately went to the box and BAM, ANOTHER SLIP!!!! I left my recorder in, holding it by my side, and walked to the next house's mailbox she was at. "Ma'am, I am home. I would like this registered mail please." She just looked at me like *I* was crazy! She gave me the envelope after I signed for it, and I then asked her why she had been putting those slips in the box and not getting out to bring the mail to the door so I could get the registered letter. She said she knocked twice and I didn't answer. I then pointed out my camcorder. I told her I sat there and recorded her not even get out to come up to the house. She didn't want to talk anymore and just drove away quickly.

I took the recording TO THE POST OFFICE and demanded to speak with whoever was in charge. Showed him the whole thing. He said he'd take care of it. Anyway, there's a new mail carrier on our route. I don't know if she was fired or was just swapped to another route.

Every now and then there is a substitute mail carrier.
The last one wedged a box between the new screen door and the door.
It ripped a hole in the screen and would have gotten wet if it rained.
UPS and FedX leaves them on the covered front porch where there is a table, a bench, and 2 chairs.
The regular mail carrier leaves packages in waterproof bags beside the side door. Still haven't gotten thru to her about the front porch, which is actually closer than the side entrance.
We've only lived here for 10 years.

Your local carrier just does not care people. Attempt to remedy by talking to them once. If that does not work, start filing reports with headquarters, and get a case numbers. The main number you call has a menu and you will probably select the "other options" first, then get to an option to report a problem. Most times I gave a reason of "mishandled mail". You'll talk to someone, get their name, date, case number, etc. They'll usually tell you "someone will call you back within 2 days". The call back will be made by your local PO manager. I've had times where they did NOT call me back, so I called HQ back again to report it with my case number. They will eventually get on their butts to do something right.
