I should add that care should be taken when removing or inserting the mouthpiece to make sure it goes straight in. It can catch the "O" ring or the flat washer. I think the flat washer is more prone to "worming" out than the "O" ring is, but in any case it pays to keep everything straight and aligned.

Just my opinion, worth what you're paying for it, your results and mileage may vary, no warranty or guaranty is expressed or implied.

I haven't handled or examined a T3, hope to soon, but from what I have heard about them the bottom unscrews for filling. I would guess that any "O" rings or washers will be "captive" either on the tank or the bottom assembly and shouldn't present any real problems. This is pure conjecture on my part so it could work out differently. Other vendors have been selling T3s for a little hile and I've seen no complaints about seals of any type.

mmmm thank you makes sense..also I was resting the needle tip there when filling....maybe that didn't help either....live an learn...ill be more careful....will these t3s have this o ring flat washer...and same care will apply?:?:.............sorry if that's a silly ?

The T3s are very different. They fill from the bottom.

I had read this thread a while back, I had just received my first X2 Clearos which were ordered on 10/3. I didn't experience any problems with the three clearos I had from that batch. Ordered more on 10/25/12.

Then just a moment ago went to fill a clearo and bam, little silicon seal floating at the top of the clearo not allowing the juice to flow to the bottom. First thought, well I finally got a dud! Opened a brand new clearo, noticed around the top not really a silicon seal but a silicon "glob", one fill that clearo is DOA too, the seal just tore from the top and is now hanging and will completely come loose the next time I take the top off. The clearo is leaking! Both of these failed clearos are from the second shipment I ordered on 10/25/12.

Hope this pic comes through okay, but for others this is the seal everyone has been talking about.

Bummed to say the least...I really liked these clearos as far as taste and ease of use, but expensive for a one time use.

Looks to me like you should be able to take the top metal ring off, squirt some glue around the inside of it, and re-install. That should stop the leaks and hold the metal ring on the tank securely. IDK what kind of glue to use though.

Edit - Super Glue should work.

That's a good close-up, but my old eyes can't make out if that is a flat washer or a true "O" ring. Can you desribe it a little?

I have to admit that I liked the clearo as well, nice capacity, flavor and vapor, but this last batch just isn't anywhere near the quality that the original ones I got were. A little disappointing. As far as taking them apart to fix them then gluing themback together, I'm a tinkerer by nature and doing that just doesn't interest me at all.

Awsum140 - my eyes aren't that great either! So I completely understand. The first clearo this happen too, it was plainly a flat washer, this is the second one I opened, and it was obvious that there was a "glob" of silicon protruding toward the center, the tip was very difficult to remove (arthritis causes me problems with my grip) but I filled it and the moment I put the tip back in, it caught the "glob" and pulled it down. (I attempted to take that picture with my tablet and I apologize for the lack of quality)

Now the first one with the flat washer, I did manage to pull the ring off the top, placed the washer back in placed, snapped the ring back tightly and the moment I put the tip in (careful to hold it straight), it pulled the washer out again. I am contemplating some fixes but haven't come to a concrete conclusion as of yet.

The washer came out of the second one too, it is a flat washer so the "glob" I saw was the washer pinched and sticking out further than it should.

Ok I got a little "tinkerish" last night and today and have taken these pictures, hopefully they come out well.

First is the clearo taken apart, and as you can see, it truly is a flat washer. This was the first one I experienced problems with and with Worksforme's suggestion, I screwed in the tip and just pulled - it came apart quite easily.

Next is a picture of the underside of the chrome cap, and you can see the flat lip which is directly under the screw threads for the tip.

Next picture is the washer placed back into place, not completely pushed down yet as you have to work it around.

And finally a picture of the cap placed back on the clearo, and as you can see the lip of the clearo tank and the lip of the cap should hold the washer in place.
clearocapon.jpg

Now...after doing all that and snapping the cap tightly over the clearo, the moment I put the tip back in, the washer came out again.
The cap came off this clearo very easily, but the other one, no amount of pulling and wiggling would release the cap from the plastic tank, even had hubby try it and it was a no-go.

The washer provides a seal to the tip, along with the little o-ring which is on the tip itself. In conclusion, I have found that the clearo works even without this seal, it has become more an annoyance than anything, for me at least. I placed the tip back into the other clearo without this seal, and just tightened it a little more and have had no other leaking issues.

Just wanted to post so that everyone would have a point of reference for that silly little rubbery thing that you could find floating in your clearo one day....;)

Thanks for your efforts, Elantis!

That flat washer used to be the same size "O" ring that's on the mouthpiece tip. It stayed put very nicely. Somehow, I don't think I want to take one apart and use silicaon adhesive to hold that washer in place, and without it I don't trust them not to leak. Oh well, maybe the T3 will get here someday :(
