Analog = traditional cigarette/cancer stick/whatever you want to call them.

PV's or e-cigs are electronic so people like to consider them "digital"

If you understand analog and digital signals in technology, or at least are familiar with the terms in that context, you can see where traditional cigarettes would be the old analog technology when compared to the fancy digital technology of e-cigs :)

So that's why we call cigarettes "analogs," but it's a misnomer. If someone plays a guitar, it's the real thing. If you record the guitar onto a tape and then play the tape back, you hear something that is "analogous" to the guitar. Older recording technology is therefore referred to as analog technology. To record digitally, you need an analog/digital converter so that music is converted to a series of zeros and ones (1010010011100).

A cigarette is a cigarette. An e-cigarette is analogous to a cigarette, but it's not a real cigarette. An e-cigarette would therefore be an analog of a real cigarette. Besides, e-cigarettes aren't "digital" (1001101110010101).

E-cigs are analogs!!!

Actually I have to disagree with you on your representation of Analog vs Digital. By definition, a Digital signal is a series of 1's and 0's or On's (1's) and Off's (0's)

Just think of the Old Indian form of communication, Smoke Signals. It is a Digital form of communication using an Analog device. Just like Light Signals on board a ship.

Thus vaping is Digital in that they are either on or off. But old Cig's are analog as they are always on but with varying degrees of amplitude between taking a drag or sitting idle.

Just my 2 cents ;)

That's creative thinking, Zoranth. But right now my guitar amplifier is off, and I'm pretty sure it's analog.

Roflmao, yes, but if you were to sit there and turn it on and off while also playing you would be making a Digital Signal using an Analog Device ;)===

For example, a normal incandescent Light bulb is an Analog Device as is the normal power source that feeds it. However, sitting there and flipping the switch on and off you are creating a Digital (Signal) state (By definition) of either being on or off. Think of the Very first "Digital" computers that used little incandescent bulbs in a row to indicate register output. they were either on indicating a "1" or off, Indicating a "0".

Btw, not arguing here, actually having fun with this.

actually i think that using "analog" to describe a cigarette conveys the impression that "Vapors" are weird ( not normal ) to the general public and i think it should be abolished, it kinda puts us in the same group as "potheads".

=========================

July 10 smoked 03 cigs, 37 less than my usual 40 cigs a day 2369 cigarettes not smoked in 68 days by using Stonewall, Joye 510, Hello 016, Ken's BoxMod, MadVapes 2xAA Box Mod, WetBox Vaporizer (ecig) and 19 bottles of ejuice partially used , $0.28 per cig X 2369 Cigs = $663.32 diverted from cigarettes to Vaporizer (ecig). I have spent over $1000 on my cigarette reduction program And will break even when Hell freezes over :)

however, using that scenario, there would be some time delay between throwing of the switch and energizing of the bulb that would result in something more akin to a sawtooth wave than the square wave that is most common in digital circuits :p
