How long did it take you to drop analogs fully?

All you guys have such inspiring stories!

Whenever I'm in the Philippines, I'm a pack a day smoker (sometimes more) mainly because cigarettes are so damn cheap (like $1.10 USD for a pack of Marlboros) and I can pretty much smoke anywhere. It's a whole lot different in Canada where it's $10 per pack and it's cold outside 3/4 of the year, which is partly the reason why I decided to go heavy in this vaping thing.

I've been smoking around 1/3 to 1/2 a pack for the past few months, and now that I'm vaping again (about 2 weeks ago I think) I've cut that down to around 4-5 smokes a day. It's starting to taste nastier and nastier by the day, and I'm aiming to go down to 1-2 cigs a day (it's still too hard to give up the morning, after-dinner and before-I-sleep smoke).

Congrats everybody on your success in quitting!

I forgot to ADD this to my above post. My fiancee had made the jump off of analogs first (but she later went back to analogs), and I just kept rolling on my 2 packs a day thinking it was stupid, a waste of money, wouldn't work. She used both for a week, and during that time I started searching for videos on general e-cigs (didn't find ECF till much later, tisk tisk), but I remember a homemade, youtube video from a guy who lived in northern Wisconsin, and he stated over and over, when he first tried e-cigs (and advised the video watchers' as well), he didn't do it with QUIT QUIT QUIT in his mind, merely he just wanted to TRY them. I believe he mentioned also it was very cold where he lived and it was a PITA to have to keep going outside. He stated that rather rapidly he didn't even go for his cigs, and kept vaping. Again restating the viewers that he started ecigs NOT with the intent to quit smoking, but to try them, and "it just happened". I kept the same mindset, and gosh dangit all, it happened to me too. :)

Stopped smoking after my first vape. I still have a half empty pouch of tobacco on my desk. I had no craving for a smoke at all really, but it took about three days to not feel a little funny, and then about two weeks before I stopped reaching for a lighter before vaping. Also about two weeks before I stopped getting the feeling like there was something "missing" -- which I assume is all the other alkaloids in tobacco, which I still do kind of miss, but haven't bothered with WTA juice, since by now, there's nothing missing. I have found juices that give me the tobacco flavor I want, and if I ever stop buying new devices, I'll actually start saving money :)

Though I had stopped smoking once before, years ago, for a few months (was trying to diagnose a potential health problem, that turned out to be allergies) and I'd say the progression was similar, except I did have about three days of cravings, followed by two weeks of "missing something".

I did smoke one cigarette about a month into vaping, and decided that I like vaping more than smoking.

I'm not opposed to the occasional cigarette or cigar, I simply don't want them anymore. I have friends and family that are "special occasion" smokers, as in like a few times a year, at most. I'll still probably share a cigar or whatever with them on Christmas or anniversaries or whatever, but that's about it.

I smoked tobacco cigs for 52 years, prolly took me 6 months to get off them. Now, a year later, I've been 0Nic0FA, (Zero Nicotine Zero Flavor Added), for the last 9 months. Sorta ACCIDENTLY quit smoking. Decided to leave the Cinnamon out of my DIY blend. At the same time I ACCIDENTLY left the nicotine out. Once I discovered this I said what the hey. . .who needs it. JMHO

    Cheers,

It took me about 4 days to fully convert. Along about the 5 and 6th day of not having a cigarette I did get the craving but I vaped on. Actually chain vaped ALOT and burned up several attys, but vaping always took care of it an after about 5 minutes of vaping hard, all was right with the world again. I've been analog free now for nearly a year and half. First time in 42 years of smoking that I have been able to quit for more than a week or two. The great thing is that I don't miss smoking at all these days and I having had even a mild craving in months.

I didn't buy any after my first day of vaping. Once I put out my last Newport that was it. I had a few drags after vaping only for almost a week and that was the end of cigarettes for me. My tastebuds changed quickly and totally rejected the flavor, feeling of the smoke, etc- it was like that first sickly chemical drag way back when on a drunken high school night that inevitably set us up for a lifetime of dependency. When I see someone smoking my old brand or really any menthol analog, I DO have a passing need for it, but I quickly recall how awful it tasted and I get over it. Even f I wanted to start smoking again I would have to gag through 12 of them before I had any enjoyment so for me it's just done.
I'd say if you're still smoking a few analogs a day, your tastebuds would still be dull making cigarettes taste better and vaping taste worse, and in turn one more cigarette a day creeps in.

Pack of Marlboro lights a day. I had about 5 left in a pack when I got my Twist setup and some juice. Smoked those last 5 while I vaped along and haven't had one since. I used 24 and 18mg tobacco flavors initially to help recreate the cig a bit. I dipped also and I have had about a can of Grizzly in 27 days, mostly when my Twist was charging. I bought another Twist so now one is always charged.

about 3 weeks. Started with a drug store brand....it sucked and really didn't kick those cravings (and tasted bad to boot!), but i did get down to between 1 and 5 stinkies per day during that time. In that 3 weeks, i researched, bought a better model, bought some sample juice, etc. After 1 week w/my kgo, I stopped completely. I still only like 3 juices, and only one of them really kicks those hard cravings (after eating and right after waking up).

Don't sweat it. Sometimes it just takes a little time to find out what works for you.

I started off with 36mg and never touched another cig after I got my first 510. I had such as desire to quit that it wasn't hard. I might of had one or two urges in the first week but just kept hitting the 510 until the urges went away. After 40 years of smoking it wasn't hard with the right mg of juice. I have since went to 18-24mg after all cravings left and that was more than 3 years ago now.. Good luck to you..
About the same, minus the -40 yrs of smoking, only 7 for me.
Going to 36mg did it. Got a craving? It's gone really quick.
About the same with stepping down to 24mg/mL and 18mg/mL, 3 years give or take.
12mg/mL just is not doing it for me. Mebbe in another half decade or maybe never. Not smoking cigs though.
Keep at it and instead of lighting up another smoke, load up on higher nic juice, it totally kills urges when you're getting as much nicotine as you need or want, there's no willpower except for the first few seconds of either reaching for a e-cig or lighting up.
We're not actually quitting ya know. At least I'm not. Addiction to nicotine is alive and well, just changing up the delivery system for something much less damaging to me.

I think its important to not to beat yourself up or put too much pressure on yourself for smoking the occasional analog (god i hate that word). Just keep vaping and you will find yourself smoking less and less or eventually not at all. I remember
trying to quit cold turkey and feeling like an utter failure for not being able to do it. Vaping did workk for me almost from the beginning but at first i had a few cravings. The WTA juice did help me though. I haven't had to use it in a long time but it
    does work for some people.
