I don't know what possessed me a few minutes ago but I kept reading posts from vapers saying that they don't like cigis anymore. I wondered if that was me, too....?

Had to stop for gas, so I went in and bought a pack of my old Camel Menthol Silvers. YUCK!!!!!!

I took 2 puffs and felt like puking! Nasty!!! Did I really used to live those things????? I'll find someone that wants the other 19 in the pack cuz I darn sure won't smoke them! I am cured! Experiment successful!

I did not buy them because I craved nic, I'm happy with my LT. So, please no "up your nic dose" recommendations.... I was only wondering if I'd still like them since I haven't had one in almost 4 months..short answer: N O !!!!!!!! ;)

It's funny and I don't want you to think this is in any way an attack on you Ratchet; this is just something I've been thinking about for awhile.

I quit a little over twenty-four hours before I even had my first PV. I had expected it (a GenJoye 510 atty, some carts and juice) to be in that day, and the stupid postman didn't bring them. I was already up and gibbering at the mouth for a cigarette, but I refused to give in. The next day when my package came, I literally ripped them open on the porch and then was saddened because I had to charge them first . Anyway, I have never felt the need to try a cigarette just to 'compare' them to my experience since quitting. I read this OFTEN on this site that people just try 'em out one more time just to 'see' and I've always been curious: what is there to see or compare? I smoked Marlboro Lights for ten years, a pack and a half to two packs a day. I know what they tasted like, I know what they smell like so why would I need to waste money (one of the many perks of quitting) on a pack to find out something I already know?

Is it just to reinforce the idea that you made the right decision or...? I've really been confused by this.

I did it to see how my perception of the flavor of a traditional cigarette had changed, considering the massive transformation my taste buds have gone through since quitting. It's just curiosity, and reinforcing the idea that cigarettes don't really taste that good doesn't hurt. :p

Yeah, I was in the car with my uncle the other day and we stopped at a light that had a bustop. Peeps were smoking and there was a bit of a breeze out. I just got one whiff from like 20' away and it was nearly nauseating. Crazy stuff, eh?

And, it's only been about a week I've not been smoking. I think the smell is worse than a taste. If a lit one up, it'd be bleh, but the smell is worse. Perhaps the sense of smell recovers faster than the sense of taste?

The smell doesn't bother me too much, hubby still smokes so I get to smell that anyways. But the Taste - YUCK!!!!! Can't stand it anymore! I rather vape all my yummy juices!!!!! ;)

My sig is kinda a lie, because every once in a while, I'll have one just to see how bad it is (maybe once or twice a month), and it is, indeed, always terrible. Sometimes I wonder how I managed to get addicted. I never buy them though, at least not for myself, I just bum on off someone. But I do feel the compulsion to try one every now and then, just to see what I'm missing. The consensus is that I'm not missing much! Lol.

And the sensation is terrible in every sense of the word. The taste is awful, I hate the way I smell after. I can feel a nasty film on my skin. My lungs feel bad the next day. Everything tastes like smoke for the next few hours, even if I brush my teeth. And worst of all it's not even satisfying. After vaping that nice heavy vape we all get....the TH from a cigarette is nothing. It's just this whispy little thing. I get better sensation from my little 510 batteries, never mind my Lava Tube!

It's not really about reinforcing the idea that I made the right decision. It's just that I'm curious; I find it extremely interesting how addiction warps the idea of what is enjoyable and what we acclimate to, for the sake of addiction. I am also curious, if I were to stop vaping, and a couple months down the road, to try it again, if I would still find it enjoyable.

What is this stopping of the vaping that you speak of???

With all of the tasty juices out there? Not even a question in my mind... :)

The way I see it, for me I've had four things going on that could be considered addictions:

  1. smoking
  2. drinking
  3. coffee
  4. chile peppers & hot foods

Out of those, only smoking is sure to kill you and do so very messily indeed. Yes, drinking can be as bad or worse, but in moderation can even considered a health benefit. Nothing in smoking has an upside.

Well, here is something I posted almost two years ago...

DC2 said:
So yeah, this is my ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of not burning tobacco.
DC2 said:
Or is it?

I still have a cigarette every couple of months.
I guess I've had about 5 of them in the last year.

It's not that I want them.
It's not that I need them.
It's not that I even ever think about them.

It's just that I find it tremendously fun, and completely liberating to have one!!

I think they suck.
I can't believe I used to subject myself to that garbage.

So I smoke one.
Then I smash it on the ground.
Then I spit on it's burnt and dying carcass!!

And then I laugh some sort of crazy maniacal laugh.
Okay, not really.

Anyway, whether that counts or not, it has been one year since cigarettes had ANY power over me.
And as far as I'm concerned, this is my official one year anniversary as a non-smoker!!

Yay me!!
001_smile.gif

And I still have one every now and then.
Only now and then has changed to about once every six months.
:)

Ya, I still have a pouch of regular RYO and nearly 1/2lb of menthol RYO I'd bought the week before I started vaping.

I figure, hey, perhaps I can use it for DIY some day..heheheh.

As of July, anyone smoking in the building can get a 10-day notice to quit...so THAT is an incentive for me.

Yea see, I guess maybe that's where I'm coming from. Three days after I started vaping/quit, I went to my best friend's wedding. Smoking all night long into the next day and I was like, 'Wow..it's never smelled like this before,' which is to say: bad. It REALLY smelled. Considering that in only three days a smoking cigarette smelled worse than trash burning on the hottest day in the history of Earth, I just never had the inclination to try one again. When I was done, I was done and I knew it.

I figured I was done with it, too, but curiosity killed the cat and I just had to try it and see for myself. I kept telling myself I wouldn't like them anymore but I never tried them again after I smoked the last one I had more than 3 months ago. NOW I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soooooo disgusting! I wanted to wash my mouth out but I couldn't, I was 50 miles from home at a gas station............ So, I popped gum in my mouth and vaped my mint sweet tea to kill that disgusting taste. It worked, too................ If I can't find anyone that wants the left-over 19 cigis, they are going in the trash, NOT my mouth....... LOL! Hubby won't touch menthol so he's not a taker for the unwanted 19..... :)

Posted this in another thread:
I did buy a pack on the way home..... smoked one... and realized there's a reason I haven't touched one at all in 2 weeks. I'd have to give the flavor on a Marlb light a -20, workmanship sucks, the seam on the carto end was lifting slightly, the carto wrapping almost got stuck to my lip, the whole thing felt cheaply made and flimsy in my fingers, the draw to try to get a decent amount of vapor was like sucking a Wendy's frosty through a cheap, thin straw, and the vapor production was extremely disappointing. Not to mention battery life was about 6 minutes... then it's basically an empty carto. You'd have to carry 20+ and a "charging" device to get each one started just to get through the day!!!!! Worst effing vape ever. I don't recommend it. I chucked the empty carto out the window. Is there a pay it backward thread I can list the remaining 19 batteries that came in this overpriced POS starter kit in?

About 3 months after I switched to vaping, I decided to try a cigarette - I had to know if I was really done with them. Same thing - I couldn't finish 2 puffs, it was completely disgusting. After 40+ years of smoking, that was nothing short of a miracle for me - I knew I was free.
