what's up everyone. just now getting into vaping. I can only use the virgin vapor ( long story) I'm thinking about starting off with an rx200 and that's about as far as I've got lol I have NO IDEA what else to get, I'd like to get a tank for under $20 so I don't have to spend a crap load on my first kit. I really don't even need the 200W that the rx200 puts out, I'd LOVE something that's a kit that doesn't go over 80W. any suggestions?

Are you looking for flavor and nic, and "simulating" smoking, or looking to blow clouds (lots of vapor). I used to smoke but changed to vaping and I'm what you would call a MTL (mouth to lung) user, sort of like puffing on a cigarette. I'm not really looking to blow out lots of vapor/smoke. You really only need a high wattage like the RX200 for low ohm, more complicated coils, and generating lots of vapor (not that you'll never use a high wattage in the future, but probably not quite yet).

There are lots of affordable options in the 75W range, which falls within a single battery solution (replaceable battery such as an 18650). You can look and an eLeaf Pico or Coolfire IV 18650, both single replaceable battery mods rated to 75W (but realistically, no higher than 45-50W with only one battery). Affordable tanks can be found either with factory made coils, or build it yourself. For factory coils (the easiest starting out) Aspire Nautilus coils and tanks (which includes the Triton mini) are considered an excellent solution. Other affordable tanks like that would also include the CeroTank (uses smaller Aspire BVC coils).

All those tanks are compatible with the RX200 as well. One advantage to the RX200 is that with multiple batteries and MTL lower wattage use, they'll last for a long time before needing recharging. But if you want something smaller and easier to carry around, something like a Pico or CF IV can do the trick. The great thing is that for the moment, there are lots of choices. Unfortunately, with new FDA regulations set to kick in in August, new products will not be coming to market, and things may become less available. Te best way to future proof is to be sure any mod you get has a replaceable battery (all Li batteries eventually cannot take a charge after ~300 charge cycles) and that you either stock up on factory coils, although I expect plenty to remain available for some time, especially something like the Aspires which are popular in the vape world, and prepare yourself to eventually make your own coils, which is a lot easier than it might appear at first.

wow thanks for the great info!!!! I guess I would be called a MTL also I really don't care about the big clouds of smoke. as long as it tastes great and I get a lung hit that's all I want. I was checking out the eleaf 60WTC and it's in my price range but I read it has a problem leaking. but I will look into the others

yeah I smoke a pack a day. I like smoking just not the BS that comes with it. I've tried vaping a few times and fell in love.
Okay, if the first priority is to beat smoking here is what I say. You don't need to stop smoking immediately, just eventually. If you vape you'll smoke less. If you don't stop vaping eventually you will stop smoking. If you let it happen vaping will become a superior experience in every respect and you'll be immune to relapse. The important thing is don't stop vaping.

I started at 8 watts with a Nautilus mini. My body needed to get used to vaping. I had to learn to deal with the hardware, figure out liquids, flavors, etc. Patience, patience. Don't try to be Mr. vape big shot in the beginning. Tootle along for a while. Learn the ropes. Keep your ego in check. May be you'll eventually need big watts and big clouds but may be you'll do what I did, stop smoking after 6 weeks of dual use and end up at 30 max watts and 400 degrees or less than that.

Unfortunately we have to keep an eye on the regs and if you're going to be a life long vaper you'll be rebuilding and mixing sooner or later. Now may be sooner. I'm stockpiling a 10 year supply of picos and vtc minis, 10 peices total and betting that's sufficient for my vape. $150 worth of nic will last me 10 years. Then some atomizers and miscellany, $500 total for me and then all I need to resupply are PG, VG, batteries and flavoring. If you pay some dues vaping isn't cheap, it's free.

I'd like to basically replace smoking with vaping. I really enjoy the nicotine and the act of smoking I really have no desire to quit smoking. I just want to quit cigarettes. (only in this forum would that ever make sense lol) I LOVE the taste of vaping my neighbor got me hooked. and as long as I stick to all organic my wife will be happy. I just checked out the eleaf Pico and it's truly everything I want. when I vape with my neighbors set up the max I've done is 40w and I'm happy with that. like I said Im really not trying to blow huge clouds of smoke or be "that guy" I just want something that tastes good and is more healthy without dropping 200 bucks to start (that's alot of cartons of cigarettes in my wife's eyes.)

You have a good Neighbor. You may want to get advice/approval from him.
Sugg#1 Buy on the internet.
Sugg#2 Educate yourself on the FDA dooming regs. They're real..

Something like a VTC Mini (1-cell 75W mod - very small, light and ergonomic) is very reasonably priced and they make great mods for both experienced vapers and for people like yourself who are just starting out.

Personally, I was starting out today - I'd probably want to get a VTC and at least two toppers - a dripper for home use, and a tank (like a Kanger Toptank or ProTank 4) that fits both pre-made heads and an RBA deck which allows you to build your own wicks and coils, which saves a lot of money and lets you tailor your vape to just how you like it.

A lot of beginners are intimidated by the idea of making their own ejuice and coils, but it's really easy to get the hang of - I'm really glad that I jumped into doing it feet-first, but then again, I am the type who loves to tinker 'under the hood' with most things I get into. ;)

I'll check out the VTC but so far I'm really digging that istick pico. it's only like 40 bucks so that's right in my price range.
I'm sure I'll be building my own eventually that's what my neighbor does and some of his mods are sexy lol and I get bored with things very easy and like to change it up. thank you everyone for the replies and the info yall are awesome

You can get a VTC Mini for around USD$30, a basic RBA dripper for around USD$6, and a nice tank for around USD$12-13 and a couple of decent 18650 batteries for USD$10 or so (Samsung 30Q or LG HG4 etc).

I would also highly recommend getting an external battery charger (you can charge the battery in the mod, but it's better for the batteries and general peace of mind using a dedicated charger) like a Nitecore D2 which can be had for around USD$15 or so.

Then you'll just need some juice. :)

This would get you a 'starter kit' which is pretty damn future-proof and should take you well down the road of your vaping journey - a lot of veteran vapers use exactly the same kit every day. ;)
