I'd rather die early than live without my BBQ, beer, bacon, whole milk etc etc.

Everyone dies sooner or later. Enjoy life, don't fear it.

That reminds me of an old quote that i think I will make my sig line:
“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting ‘Holy ...., what a ride!’”

wait, cooking your meat causes cancer now?
am i supposed to survive on tree bark from now on or ....
i mean i understand other things such as fishing for sport and not for food but meat never hurt anyone, unless you throw a frozen steak at somebody i guess.

the only thing safe to eat is bean sprouts.

oh wait..

Seriously between all of the ecoli and pesticide in veges, cancer and artery clogging fat in meat, the whatever it is in bread and crackers, I am shocked they think we should care about what is in our vapor. It seems everything is bad for us. If our food is killing us already who cares about the vapor?

Do you know what dogs do to trees? I'm not touching tree bark.

They can take my grilling tongs out of my cold, dead, hands. :D

What's that old saying, "everything in moderation"?

In the old days, gout was considered a rich man's ( or royalty ) disease. Only the rich
had access to high quantities of foods that where high in protein. Too much protein on
a regular basis triggers gout.

Even our ancestors knew that too much of a good thing was bad for your health. Some
of the first poisons were simply a concentration of everyday plants. Most of them were
actually medicinal plants. They may not have known the scientific details, but they knew
that too much of certain foods wood make you sick or susceptible to other illnesses.

But now, our environment has become so polluted that it has weakened our bodies to
the point that the trace levels of poisons and carcinogens we consume in everyday foods
has become more than our bodies can handle. These trace levels combine with the
elements we absorb through our environment to either make us sick outright, or interact
with each other to make us more susceptible to cancers and other illnesses. Moderation
is no longer a viable deterrent.

Another thing to consider; we are breeding ourselves into this decline. In the old days,
only those who were smart, healthy, and fit, were able to provide for a family and have
kids who were, in their turn, healthy enough to survive. Only those who were healthy
enough to shrug off certain illnesses survived to have kids and pass on those healthy genes.

But now, certain factors, including modern medicine, technology, economy, even political and
social, are actually contributing to our "fragile" state of health.

"Survival of the fittest" may sound barbaric in our current society, but it is fundamental to the
very foundation of our evolution. Homo Sapien did not survive because we were stronger, faster,
or even because we were smarter. We survived because of our ability to adapt to any environment.
Our bodies ability to adapt to extreme cold, heat, humidity or dryness allowed us to move on when
resources were too few.

Modern society has allowed us to sidestep all the controls that made sure only the "strong" survived.
Many people today would not be able to function without allergy medicines, vitamin supplements,
and constant medical support. These people are not only surviving, but they are having kids who are
just as "weak". Add to this the current trends of failing education ( mustn't damage little Johny's self
image by demanding he work hard to pass or be failed ), increased gov't spending ( welfare "parents"
who pump out more kids for a bigger check and then brag about their swag ), and the younger
"in-titled" generations; and I am almost glad I may not be much longer for this world.

I am sorry if I seemed to get off on a tangent, I saw a post the other day about a guy who couldn't do
simple math in his head and then made an ignorant comment about preferring tar and carbonmonoxide
to inhaling water in his lungs. Several people made the usual jokes about his mentality, and then someone
made a comment about how they shouldn't be so judgmental and downing someone else to make
themselves feel superior. I guess it's been percolating in my thoughts, and it kind of spawned this
chain of thought.

Anyways, just some "food" for thought, at least it's not carcinogenic.

Take it all with a grain of salt....oh wait, that's bad for you too. LOL Use common sense and moderation.

I quit worrying about it in the 70's when they were warning about Mother's breast milk causing cancer and advising mothers not to breastfeed their children. Geez
