I'm also not nuts about some of the potential risks myself, but I do have a few thoughts:

1. I must have nicotine for sanity
2. I feel a heck of a lot better about vaping than I did about smoking
3. My body agrees with both of the two previous points

vaping has some risks and negative side effects, but I will take it over smoking any day. Until I can kick nicotine forever, that is.

:) I certainly agree with this.

On a whole, tobacco cigarettes are just plain evil and I am happy to be rid of them.

I look at it this way. Years of smoking tobacco would have serious medical effects on one's health. The jury is still out on e-cigs, but I would venture to guess that the currently unknown longterm health effects of e-cigs are relatively negligible versus the currently known longterm health dangers of tobacco smoking.

Judging from the reactions I get from people I know, they say the voice is clearer with no coughing, and my attitude is brighter.

Personally, I feel better overall, I don't feel breathless from mild exertion and my sense of smell has returned.

I also feel that issues such as atomizer primer coatings are being or will be addressed.

I am new to vaping - just a few months- but I share your concern.
Right now I know little about ANY of the chemicals and additives going into the juice and the what the ramifications may be from inhaling them as a vapor and I have been looking into it fairly heavily for a little while.

I am one of the long-term smokers posted about up above though, and even with the unknown possible risks of diacetyl AND non-diacetyl additives, I would rather vape than smoke.

I KNOW how bad the one devil is (smoking) and while there are definitely known issues with at least some additives (diacetyl and the substitutes) there doesn't seem to be all that much known about inhaling the other stuff yet.

When you get right down to it, one thing in most juice is known to be very highly toxic- and most vapers insist upon having that in their juice: nicotine.
Bottom line, to me- vaping is PROBABLY safer than smoking.
I know I feel better vaping than smoking.

But I'm not convinced than any one additive (besides nicotine) is worse than any other.

First person I've ever heard of that goes into seizures from nicotine withdrawal

It's technically not the nicotine withdrawal, but the psychology of not having a cigarette, according to one doctor, but another doctor thinks it's because of the fact that I went from 4000 chemicals routinely to nothing.

I'm weaning off to be sure, and to ease my mind that I won't have a seizure and that I can still "smoke" by vaping. It's worked so far and I am extremely happy! :)
