On the Facebook page for Annals of Internal Medicine, they cite the recent court decision that e-cigarettes should be regulated as tobacco products and counter with their recent piece urging physicians to counsel patients not to use them. I commented.

KUDOS...Loved the part where you said: "That's good advice, provided the physicians
want their patients who smoke to continue to do so for another eight years or so."

I commented, "Yes, keep recommending those NRT products that have a success rate of about 2% after 20 months. I'm cigarette free for 10 months with an additional 7 months that I seriously reduced my consumption of cigarettes using E Cigs and Swedish snus. I spent the better part of 43 years smoking and quiting and smoking and quiting and smoking using those recommended products to try to quit. Finally I found products that actually work. The Medical expression "Do No Harm" should extend to selling the same product year after year when you know the chances of success are so small.

The surgeon general came out stating just one cigarette does harm and you're going to sell a product and a concept that has multiple quit attempts built into it before a smokers might be successful?
