I just found out this morning before leaving for work. Thanks for digging up my state's education powers that be for me. Given the current environment of uniformed, concerned public workers I'm not sure how effective any of this will be, but it could be fun to see what happens.

I'd recommend adding some good citations when you contact them. If it helps, you can start with the Royal College of Physicians:

Promote e-cigarettes widely as substitute for smoking says new RCP report

That is what State Legislators hope Everyone does.

It allows them to continue to Pile On Tax after Tax after Tax and never have to even mention the concept of "Cutting Spending".

And as Mentioned earlier by Topwater, a Very Effective way to Pitch your Tax is to Start by Demonizing whatever it is that you want to tax. That way when the Taxes come, the Sheeple fall in line like good Sheeple do.

Sheeple? Me?
Hardly.
But I do know that a price hike on object B does not cause me to go back object A. Sometimes reason over emotional reaction is a necessity. Getting all whipped into a frenzy about it ends up fixing nothing.

Logic and patience on the other hand gives rise to positive results given enough time. Politicians understand this. They end up imposing fees and taxes on more and more of our conveniences. And frankly, nicotine is a substance I'll be ok without.

If they tax warm clothing in winter I will still be warm. That does not make me a sheeple. No, the sheeple are the ones who blindly accept that vaping is bad and that mods explode.

At my work, I'm kind of an elder statesman watching a bunch of millennials have to grow up.

A statement I made to one millennial (kindly) was, "Um, here is your form back, and it is filled out because I had a pen, and the parent borrowed it. However, it is usually useful when presenting a form to include a pen."

No lie. Dood, I had to. I'm sorry. It's the only way they learn. I mean did she think words were made of stickers and participation trophies? Probably.

But in any case, that is how it works. Me and the doc whose office I share are both feared and LOVED, (and also at times most certainly HATED, I can smell it in the air sometimes....)

Some learn, some don't. One chick well had not summoned me for a scheduled patient in 3 MONTHS. I was done. I said, "Look I give you sticky notes, I GIVE YOU reminders, I come up here and say, "is my patient ready" and you say, 3 minutes I will call you and the patient is GONE."
She was like, "I forget."
I was like, "WHAT can I DO to help you NOT FORGET?"
"Nothing, they just go in a room and I forget."

So I asked for her date of birth and phone number and whatnot. Then I said, "You are CAPABLE of memory you CHOOSE to forget." LOL.

The hate was THICK that day but the next day I saw my patient and like the good little behaviorist I am she got ample praise and delight from me! LOL.

They can learn. Each generation DOES learn from the one before. I was a non-conformist because blind obedience is NOT SMART and I reeducate my kid (and sometimes the teacher) every last chance I got if it was a LIE.

We get lied to ENOUGH. I never lied to my kid besides Santa Claus and that stuff. I did apologize for lying when he found out. He is also a non-conformist so when some woman told him Santa was not real (she was Jewish and having a bad day) he said, "Oh Mom... everyone has to decide for themselves if Santa is real or not.

Go in by all means, and spread the outrage wide and far. And find out where the info came from. You will be helping everyone.

Also, join the PTA, it's worth it UNFORTUNATELY. Be the one that says, "No we won't implement strip searchers for Juuls." DO IT it is coming

Where do you Stand on Middle Schools telling Kids that e-Cigarettes are Worse than Smoking?

Because you seem to be Pushing Back on what is being said in this Thread.

I am pushing back against the notion they say vaping is worse because they side with tobacco.

It's a simple ploy to try to get kids scared of Juuls. No more, no less.

I knew years ago that society was going to see vaping same as smoking when I was asked to leave a restaraunt at a time before anybody there even knew it wasn't a cigarette. Some ten years later when millions of kids have tried vaping, often times while in the classroom it stands to reason the administration(s) go about trying to thwart the problem.

Trouble with the whole thing is the jury is still out on the long term affects. So it's still easy to propogate untruthful information simply because there isn't much science to prove it wrong (yet).

With local gas stations selling 14 year olds Juul's and Blu's the education system is in a state of panic. They did the same crap when I was in school in the 1970's when half the kids were smoking hand rolled cigarettes containing "Columbian". They told us our kids would be born with 6 toes.

So the End in this Case is somehow supposed to Justify the Means?

I'm Sorry. I have a Fundamental Belief when it comes to the Education of Kids that Intentional Deception is Not Education.

It is the Promotion of Agenda.

Something that Most here on the ECF do Not Approve of when Deception is used on Adults. Let alone when used on Children in our Public School System.

I'd still like an answer to my questions, OP ..

I'm old, so excuse my stupidity .. are quizzes normally administered over a loudspeaker these days in Public School .. ?? Also, how are the questions answered .. ?? On a blank paper .. ?? In addition, are they graded and part of the students grade record .. ?? Were students given this as an assignment and then quizzed .. ?? Is Vaping and Smoking part of the teaching curriculum .. ??

Zoid, I agree. I no longer rally believe in the public educational system. I just don't. It is outrageous. I had my kid in private and charter schools, until he wanted to go to a public HS that lasted about a year, and then I pulled him and made him get his GED.

He could got to college if he wanted, but he seems to be one of those kiddos who will make something of himself in the public sector he's naturally entrepreneurial. He's been working at an electronic repair shop and they want to make him manager. He routinely gets bonuses for selling accessories as he is personable.

I have no worries about that kid actually. It was worth every penny and every argument. He is not a snowflake, and watching his capacities grow from afar is amazing.

I feel very bad for any kid educated in public schools these days. It is not possible to teach facts and propaganda at once, and it is now All Propaganda.

Propaganda discourages fact, and we are really at the point where I have fears. I really do.

Nowhere in anything I have written is anything implying I agree with what they are doing. I have learned many more important lessons from my enemy than my friends. Understanding ones enemies motivations does not mean one agrees.

Zoid, I agree. I no longer rally believe in the public educational system. I just don't. ...

That's a Shame.

Because the VAST Majority of Educators are hard working individuals driven by the Single Goal of seeing their Students do better. And are left to do Most while given the Least.

Unfortunately, it is the Fringe Behavior that Grabs the Headlines. But that is True with just about anything. So Education is really No Different.

I think there is also another facet to this agenda. Obviously, they want to discourage the kids from using vaping products. Sure, fine, they're lying about it, most of us are in agreement here. But they are also trying to influence the kids' perception of a parent who uses these products. If they can get a kid to feel morally superior and more intelligent than their parent, then they have successfully created a rift in the family unit. Once they have done this, the kid then begins to doubt the authority of the parent and trust more in their "educators", who are nothing more than government employees. Honestly come on folks, who is the rightful authority, and ultimately cares more for the best interest of the child-the parent, or the government? I'm almost afraid of what some people will answer. This isn't just about vaping, either.

LOL Skinner got such a bad rap he did not keep his kids in boxes all the time and they grew up FINE.

Most behavioral theory I use is from a book called "Don't shoot the dog." It's written by a trainer at SeaWorld and well, it basically covers ALL behavioral shaping in the BEST way. It's fun, it's funny, and it WORKS. LOL. Everyone should read that book, we'd all be getting everyone to do everything.

But, not everyone will read it, and well, some people seem to be immune. For example, my husband. LOL. Also the kid.

LOL guess it's harder with the ones you love I was more than happy to send them to their OWN therapists, worth every penny.

I will look for the book, I am just hoping that I don't have to contribute to Bezos fortune to get it.
Addendum:
Just looked, up pops Amazon, first.

My son referred to it as a quiz, and there was a question and an answer, but it was really just an announcement over the loudspeaker while the kids were in homeroom. No grade - just very misguided discussion that had my son doing the .
