I'm gettin' itchy, and might pull the trigger and order either a VAMO or an SVD.
But I may not be doing a "kit" - and despite searching ECF all kinds of ways, I've only managed to get myself confused over what batteries I'd order. I'm pretty clear I'd get a Nitecore charger, maybe the one with 4 slots.
I'm pretty clear I'd probably just go ahead and get 2x 18650's and 2x 18350's.
And I understand I need IMR High Drain unprotected (correct me if I've got that wrong).
But I'm just stumped on good sources, and things like
What's a "Hybrid"?
I want the highest Mah I can get, right?
Do I need button top or flat top for those two devices?

I don't care if they come from China, or Amazon, or what...but I'd really appreciate recommendations for the BEST (within reason) batteries, with a specific model or link!!

Thanks for taking the time to help!!

A hybrid is purportedly a combination of the safety features of lithium manganese (IMR) and the capacity of lithium cobalt (ICR). I believe it uses nickel or aluminum in the chemistry. The battery you listed would be an excellent one in your VW devices, provided you believe it to be safe enough for you (I do). Capacity is not the end-all measurement, ideally you'd look at discharge curves vs the amp draws you will be putting on the battery vs how the regulator in the device handles the battery levels. The vamo can use button or flat tops, don't know about the SVD.

without going into a lot of lessons on chemestry he is correct it is a blend of two types of minerals. and is safer.

i dont know the svd but i believe the vamo will work with flat top versions

these links are only for model referenceas they are sold out:

this is a hybrid and one of the best you can buy, unfortunately production has been cancelled, so any available stock is selling quick, see em get some, they rock in a regulated mod.
Orbtronic - Panasonic CGR18650CH With Top Button, 2250mAh IMR High Drain 18650 Battery Cell-Made in Japan

this battery is the replacement stock number for the 2250. i have 4 now and wow they last a looooong time.
NCR18650PD High Drain Panasonic 18650 2900 mAh Li-ion Battery free shipping from Florida

fasttech still has stock of both i believe (just ordered 2 more 2900's)

the only other brand i trust is AW's and they make a good 350.

these are the only two brands i use. make sure to get unprotected versions for regulated mods and with these you wont be sorry

Basically, the Vamo and SVD have protection in them already, so batteries with a protected circuit may not work. Efest Li-Mn seem like the most common ones I've seen; however, AW is the better brand when it comes to unprotected Li-Mn batteries. There are other Panasonic (hybrid) batteries that contain more mah than AW and Efest. It's tough to really understand the 'straight dope' of which batteries will work in your device until you have some experience with that device.

A lot of mods claim to work with both button top and flat top. Some folks do say that button top works better with Vamo, but I've noticed no issues with flat tops. I don't have an SVD, so I can't comment.

What I did when I first bought my Zmax (my first 18*** device) was bought my first batteries from an ecig vendor that sold VV/VW mods. That way I could be sure that I was in the ball park of what I needed. Buying batteries from a site like Fasttech was confusing for me at first. Also, don't be so short to skip out on 18500's. They will work with an SVD if that's the direction you decide to go. They are kind of like the best of both worlds: Not much bigger that 350, but last longer.

I will say that flat tops do work in the SVD I would suggest the link to the Orbtronic batteries. Although they are out of stock at this time, I would also suggest to go with the button tops unless you have a device that needs the room for the battery to fit. Button tops work in most devices whereas flat tops will not work in some devices ie ProVari.
