Hello everybody,

I'm a newbie from Canada, been vaping now for 2 days with my Joye 510-t Starter kit. This sure is a huge forum with lots of info...sometimes too much info. Part of the reason I'm posting this is to get my 5 post count so that I may get the Canadian suppliers list via PM.

In the very beginning I had tons of questions and I still do. The search function is nice but it would take months to go through all the info here on this forum and even then you're left with questions. Especially when it comes to questions like what juice to vape. Experience has no substitute eh?

Here's a few questions I wanted to throw out there:

I seem to be vaping almost non-stop throughout the day and I can't seem to get that feeling of satisfaction like I used to get with normal cigarettes like I had enough. Is this normal and will it go away eventually?

I've seen so many different recommendations for e-juice flavors (especially the ones that resemble real tobacco ) and arguments that say "you will never get that taste because you're vaping not smoking" etc...That's fine.....But if you've just switched from analog cigs to vaping, in your experience, even if there is no real tobacco taste, what hits the spot for you that is not sweet? (My starter kit came with this green apple flavour 18mg juice that was god-awful and thank goodness I ordered a turkish blend but it's a bit strong (24mg) and it tastes like maple syrup.)

What is your experience about all the different devices out there. Which style comes closest to the real feel? How does pen style compare with the miniature devices that resemble a real cigarette? atomizers vs cartomizers, battery life etc.? And do you prefer 510 or 808 devices, do they differ in size, performance, etc?

Thanks

1. Yeah it doesn't entire replace the feeling of smoking an analog. Maybe your not getting a good throat hit ? Try vaping juice with strong mg content . Try 36mg or 24mg. Throat hit might go up and you might get a satisfied feeling. Don't go back to analogs , you are doing a great service for your health

2. Juices juices juices. I'm pretty new to vaping myself and I found that I'm in a trial and error stage. I bought like 5 fruity flavors from a friend just to find out that I kind of dislike fruit flavors. So now I am back to menthol juice because it gives me a refreshing taste and good throat hit . I have more juices in the mail coming so I can experiment to find out what I like . Try browsing and looking for the most popular flavors and order some samples of each. Trial and error is costly but not as much as buying a pack of smokes or 2 every day for the rest of your life . Also look into pg and vg to figure out what ratio is best for you. Vg will provide plumes of flavor but less taste and throat hit . Pg is sweeter and more throat hit but some people have allergic reactions to it . Again finding your pg vg ratio is trial and error . I'd go with 50 50 at first . All depends on you

3. I started with a pen style e cig and like most I wanted bigger and better . So I evolved to the riva 510 and bought more than just an atty cartridge combo . I bought some clearos and a tank to hold more juice . Riva 510 came with a bigger battery which is what I needed cause I'm never home . I'm satisfied with this but now I moved on to even better , a variable voltage mod. This is a great device because you can adjust the voltage to find the sweet spot of every different juice . The one I ordered seems to be very popular , the lavatube and it's cheap ! 60$! It's great for beginners to , really noob friendly . I wont say much more about it cause I don't even have it yet( it's still in the mail) but there are some great YouTube reviews and reviews on the forums here. IMO you still have to open up the vaping world and you will experience much more . My first vaping experience sucked and it put me off but I'm quickly learning the ropes and finding out what I like.

My advice is to browse these forums and learn as much as you can!

Stay off the analogs! Goodluck !

Edit: I noticed you said 24mg is too strong . Try 18 mg and then 12 if 18s not working .

Welcome to the site!!!! And welcome to vaping!!!

As a newbie as well, and a former smoker; of Export. I quit last year. My first E CIG was the Colibri. It was a disaster in terms. Here is why:

1. While its small, and looks like a real analogue, thats the problem. Its to small, and the battery is not going to be able to provide the power for anything realistic. I will also note the cartomizers are horrible, because you have take the caps off; etc. Cleaning is a nightmare, soaking, then waiting days to dry out. Total turn off.
2. While it made vapour; it was nothing at all what everyone else was talking about. These guys are raving, and I am not feeling that at all. I was highly disappointed, and was just about to toss everything away. I wanted to give this one more try, I also from what I read, increased the nicotine level; it was still a dud. No throat kick at all.
3. I went to site; were i got my last E Liquid from. ( I had ordered: Craven M, Export, and Camel all at 24, because i thought it was the liquid only with throat kick)- all of my past favorite cigarettes. They told me A. The current model you have will never work; as the battery is way to small. And its not industry standard. Meaning all the different fittings, will never ever work. So what ever the original site sold, is what your getting. So as nervous as I was I said one more chance for this....

I ordered the 510, kit from evapers.com and got the low LR atomizers as well. So the big was Friday when it arrived....

First; its sexy looking, the cartridges, ( no caps, no crap, just pull out, flip , and fill. You tired of this liquid? Easy! just take the poly out, rinse and add new liquid.) are WONDERFUL! you just pull the poly out, rinse, and add your new liquid. No stupid cartomizers, to soak, let dry, and all this nonsense. I could not belive how easy it was. Now for the big test. They told me to place one drop on the AT, and fill the cartridges.... I no longer can use the 24, because the throat kick knocked me off the chair. I was stunned. I could not believe the difference. Its the right equipment, that gave me the satisfying feeling. The other as I said was a total disaster. I hate the combined atty, and carts, and the power was well... Not there for anything at all.. You have the right equipment, so you are already one step there.

The amount of vap was like 10 times the Colibri. Totally love this. Now I know what people are talking about. Also you can interchange all the parts with the 510, so go bigger battery etc.

I tried a few fruit flavours, and they are not for me. I LOVE The tobacco ones from Dekang, and Juicy Juice. I use Export, Craven M, and Camel is my fav. Try and get the low AR for yours, and you will see. Place a drop on it, and presto! Remember you inhale differently on the Ecig. Trust me you will love it soon, its takes some time to get use to.

Totally dead on, I love the Craven M; at 24 its a clean refreshing, and hits the spot. Do not go back to analogs!!!!! Another tip is if you have the manuel 510, its really good cause you can hold down for a huge kick, As I said I feel off my chair when i dropped on the atty, and inhaled.... I was like holly S*****.

Thanks for the welcome and all the good tips. I do intend to stay off the analogs. I had been smoking for over 10 years and got into vaping on my doctor's advice after I went to him out of panic due to being short of breath and just being in a state I didn't want to be before any permanent damage set in. Thankfully everything is alright and I switched to vaping just in the nick of time! I will try different juices as suggested.

Do you think I should stick with the 510 system? I heard so much raves about cartos and I'm still not sure about the 808 but I heard that they produce more vapor and a bigger hit.

cartos are great so you dont have to refill often. They are also great for after a couple of minutes of use the coil gets hotter and produces a warm thick vape. Also some juices may be better in a carto then atty and vice versa. All about experience so try different things. Doesn't hurt to order some cartos to try out on your next order. They aren't very expensive

I had a horrible scare last year; I was a former 20 year plus smoker.19 years ago my uncle was diagnosed with Lung Cancer; and my doctor said to me " Matt you have to stop smoking, or in 20 years I will being seeing you next" And like all of us, I made the excuses, then 19 years later; I thought I had a spot on my lung; lucky it was not cancer, just a X-ray issue. Bottom line: its scared me so much I threw them out on Aug 26th 2011. And never to touch again. I have seen what analogues do; now you have something that is pretty much the same, and 99% better off. Good for you to vaping!

I canot rave enough about my 510, try the low R atomizers, and you will just love it Place a drop on that and BOOM! your kicked in the throat in a good way. Give it all a try.... Don't give up. I almost did until i found the 510.

Stay with the 510 type connector, whatever system or e-cig you get. The 808 is good, especially in the smaller format mini-cigs because they are often short on power. The cartos are good too, but for maximum versatilty, the 510 is currently the industry standard. You can easily get 808/510 adapters if you want to try an 808 carto on your 510 device. They're cheap. You have to experiment with different resistance cartomizers and clearomizers to find the perfect blend of flavor and "throat hit". Clearomizers generally have the most clean flavor, but they can be finicky. Cartomizers are pretty much idiot-proof, but they mute the flavors somewhat.

Also, avoid the "systems". A lot of manufacturers think they have a "system" that's perfected for all vapers. There's no such thing. Look for an e-cig that has a size and shape you like, provides at least 3.7V, has a reliable switch and takes a juice delivery device with a 510 type connector. The rest is a matter of what cartomizer, clearomizer, tank, juice, etc. that works best for you.
