Been meaning to try this for a week. Finally got around to it.

30g Kanthal, 5/64 id, 11 wraps each.
Came in at 1.3 ohms.

This thing smokes!

Got a quick guide for dual coils on the RM2?

Are yours stacked on top of each other, is it 1 single piece of wire or 2 pieces of wire for each coil? Would it short if both coils touched? Can you still connect both coils to both pos/neg posts and be OK?

Guess I don't understand dual coils with 2 posts, 3 posts makes sense...

welp you have surpassed me... i havent set up a dual anything yet...

some day...

once i have my third reo... the second will still be running singles... the third one... that one will be the LP and it shall house a variety of set ups... that is where i will begin to experiment...

for now though, singles... until about id say july/august ish i will be running singles, i may give duals a single try before that, maybe a dual eh eh try... but not consistent... more like for [expletive deleted] and giggles... but i might try it...

again 3rd reo will be the fun, experiments, the lets get crazy up in here... -cue rave music- reo

though i think if i were to build a dual coil id run em on opposite sides not one on top of the other... just me though... the rm2 has room...

then again youd have to dedicate the top cap to dual... i gotcha... hmmm.... yeah not making that play till more triangles go on sale...

You know I didn't really use a guide. Not even sure where I saw how to do it.

It is a parallel circuit. The coils aren't touching. I don't think they should touch but I'm not sure it would create a short or not.

I made two coils 11 wraps each. I knew a single coil 30g/11wraps is around 2.2 ohms. And I knew 30g twisted/ 11 wraps was around 1.1. So I assumed (incorrectly) that two untwisted in parallel would be 1.1 ohms. Doesn't really matter cause I would never fire a coil wo checking the ohms after completion.

So yeah I built two coils, shoved each side of each coil through the posts, wicked, fiddled with the orientation a little bit, prejuiced, checked the ohms again and fired it up.

It is really the same as building a single coil except you're building two and running simultaneous.

Just remember that your ohms will be significantly lower running two coils in parallel than each coil will be individually!

As always check your ohms. Then check them again!

Minor note. I was correct mathematically to assume that the resistance of two coils having the same resistance would be 1/2 of a single coil. The slight increase is probably due to the extra leg length for the higher coil. I'm sure error comes into play as well.

Well at least all those engineering and math courses are useful somewhere in my life!

Do you want to see the proof? Lol!

I've been using a dual coil setup for quite a while now, at least a couple months. My current setup is 30 ga at 7 wraps around what I believe to be a 5/64 drill bit. It comes out to about .7 ohms. I stack them just has the OP has done. As far as I can tell, the two coils can touch without shorting. My last setup I ran for well over a month before rebuilding it last night. I was actually planning on 8 wraps, but decided to go just a bit lower. After using this setup I can't go back to single coils.

The main difference in my setup is that I don't put the wick through the coils. I get a little ball of cotton and push it up against the coils on the side opposite the airhole. To me the flavor is vapor is much better. It doesn't look pretty but the vape is great. This wicking method also makes it a breeze to change wicks, which I will do sometimes multiple times daily.

That sounds like a good setup. I prefer 1.1 - 1.5 ohms but I could probably go a little lower... maybe 10 wraps each instead of 11. Problem for me is I can totally taste cotton and it is finicky. For whatever reason I just like silica better. But man duals definitely kick out the vapor! Oh yeah I should probably try to rewick with less silica. Hmmm the night is young!

Have any pics of that wick placement?
