Another New Face

Hey guys, I've been lurking for a bit and decided to create an account. I have recently started vaping about three weeks ago as an alternative to smoking and have to say it has been great so far. Currently I am using a borrowed Prodigy V3 from a friend but have ordered my first mod, an iTaste SVD. Unfortunately I am having an issue getting the SVD to work right out of the package so now I need to get my post count up to post in the appropriate section and hopefully find some sort of resolution... :/

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and hope to make some cool new acquaintences and see what this whole vaping thing is really about!

Thanks for the welcoming!

Well my issue is with the mod shutting off as soon as it senses the resistance from the iclear 30 that came in the kit. With the clearomizer disconnected it gives me the "non" message as it should, and the firing button illuminates a solid green telling me that the batteries are fine, but with the tank connected, as soon as the firing button is touched it illuminates red for a split second and the unit shuts down. The only way to turn the mod back on is to remove the battery and then put it back in. Resistance on the clearomizer reads 2.1-ohms.

I have tried both included clearomizers that came with my kit. :/

welcome, i just signed up yesterday.

Thats a funny problem, I dont have any experience with the SVD, I own the Itaste MVP.

Since you have tried 2 clearomizers and both have that problem, I would suspect the Device itself.

My only advice is maybe try charging the battery again.

sorry I couldnt be more help, I am sure others will reply.

Well I appreciate the reply regardless.

As far as the batteries go, they were brand new 18650's out of package on a brand new charger in which I gave themabout 8-10 hours charge time. Havent put them on a multimeter yet though.

It would suck if it is the unit itself and I'd need to send it out. I've tracked shipping everyday for two weeks for it to come in from Hong Kong. :( Family is going on vacation starting tomorrow so I was trying to time everything so that I didn't need to be the bum and borrow my friends mod for a month.

Behind you!
Welcome to the ECF!

"The fire/power button also lights up from green to yellow to red to give you an indication of your remaining battery voltage"

If the battery is fully charged, try adjusting your voltage and wattage settings. Checking things on a multimeter is a good habit to get into for vv/vw devices. Not very knowledgeable with the SVD yet, but I would start there.

Good deal. My official job title is a 12 Volt Mobile Electronics Specialist, so a multimeter is my best friend. lol. I will see if I can find anything funky. Hopefully it is just something simple...

I actually did some reading before purchase and heard of the tightening issue as well. So the original iclear has yet to be screwed down tightly. The spare I have tightened completely to while trouble-shooting at to no avail. The fact that it continues to shut off would make me think that the unit is shorting out somewhere, and the board is protecting.

Multimeter shows sufficient battery voltage, and the resistance on the clearomizer reads 2.2-ohms, identical to what the SVD reads when the clearomizer is attached before attempting to fire. As soon as the clearomizer is threaded JUST ENOUGH to register a resistance on the SVD, it does the "protect" sequence of a quick dim red led on the fire button and powers down. The clearomizer is very loose while only threaded just enough to read resistance in this case.

Well guys, update. I gave my buddy his battery charger back last night after work and kept the Prodigy V3 to get me home and until the UltraFire 18650's were charged for my SVD, so basically the batteries in the Prodigy are about dead. What I just did out of curiosity was took the two 3.0V Tenergy RCR123A's out of the Prodigy and put them in the SVD (Obviously the incorrect battery style(s)) and it fired for the first time. Then second hit it gave me an 8-red-flash code and wouldn't fire again. I believe the issue may rest in the battery compatibility. For some reason I think the UltraFires are the issue...
