Hello. Im new to the forum, but have been vaping since 2012. I havent had a smoke since, cant even stand to be around them now. I use to think that people that didnt smoke that complained about it was full of crap lol, but i get it now. Ive used about everything out there, but recently started squonking and love it. Im having problems with coils, so i thought i would sign up and get some expert opinions.
Thanks

Thank you. Im not real sure where to post my prob, so ill just start here. I have a pulse 24 on the capo squonker. Im using dual ud .3 ohm prebuilt coils in it with cotton bacon for wick. I dont know if it matters, but ive been using "The One" lemon juice. I love the setup, the vapor and flavor is perfect and just what i was looking for. The problem im having is that the coils dont seem to last very long before they stop producing flavor. Like less than a day not very long lol. I can take the wick out and dry burn and rewick them, then i get about another half day out of them and they are completly done. No flavor at all. I had some geekvape prebuilt claptons in it at first, but they took to long to heat up in the capo. I changed to these and love them, they just dont last long.

Sounds to me like your coils are crapping up really fast and the dry burn isn’t getting all of the funk out. I generally blow sharply on the coil while it’s still glowing to loosen and blow off the carbon deposits. Another method I’ve heard of is to use an old toothbrush on the coil to scrub the carbon out of the crannies. I’m not sure what ud means in this case but if it’s an exotic coil you might want to try switching to plain wire. It cleans up better.

I would try a rayon wick especially if you are using higher wattages, it should last far longer if properly wicked. Also, maybe posting a pic of your build might help.. It sounds to me like your wick is not keeping up with your vaping style, and somewhat weirdly, one might think that having the tails very full and/or the tank full of cotton is the way to go. While it is true you need the right amount of cotton in your coil, making sure you thin and trim the wick correctly is really important. If the tails are too thick, the juice has trouble "penetrating" the tails, and it can actually lead to dry spots in the wick.

Could also watch some youtube reviews of your tank and see various ways of wicking it. Rayon solved every single one of my wicking problems though. I tend to want to overstuff the coil, but rayon shrinks when wet, so you do want it tight in the coil, while then immediately thinning and trimming the wick so it can wick effectively.

Best of luck. Usable (and inexpensive) rayon can be found at an Sally's location (graham cellucotton, just make sure you get the kind that is 100% rayon, can also be found on amazon and etc.)

Good luck,

Anna

@Turbocoyote are the UD coils spaced or are they touching? i ask because i use the pulse 22 with singles and i had to switch to spaced coils for it to not get gunked up from vaping Marilyn by Pinup (very sweet and thick juice). it may be that there isnt enough space for the vapor to escape due to the close proximity of the coils plus the carbonaceous gunk.

Yes. They are touching. They are only 5 wraps as well so they are kinda small. Im thinking that may have something to do with it too.
