Another newb saying hello

Hey folks. I've been smoking cigarettes for 40 years, 1 to 1/4 packs a day. My recent brand has been American Spirit, their Natural cigs in a turquoise package. (Sometimes I buy packs, sometimes loose tobacco to inject at home.) So I'm smoking pretty strong tobacco.

I tried a disposable e-cig a few months ago and didn't much like the taste. Never even finished it. Today, while picking up tobacco and tubes for myself and my wife, I decided to give it another try. The shop owner happened to there today, and he rather enthusiastically recommended a Tsunami disposable e-cigarette; he even uncapped one and let me try it first. I was surprised; the mouth feel and taste were much closer to a cigarette than that first one. So I took it home with me.

Based on what I'm reading on this site, I guess this bugger isn't going to last me more than a day or two. ("Up to 800 puffs!" 16 mg) Well, maybe longer, I still have some real tobacco that I'll probably use up, too. I'm working my way through the amazing amount of information on this site, and hope to soon pick out a PV system to order online. I don't intend to get into fancy customizations or anything like that -- I have enough hobbies to keep me busy already. :)

Anyway, I just wanted to thank the site owner and the community for the wealth of information available here. If any experienced vaper is familiar with my brand of cigarette, maybe they could suggest how I could get a similar taste from a PV?

As cigarettes go, Amer Spirits are pretty good. I was a die hard smoker, living up here in the mountains I didn't just roll my own, hell I GREW my own!!

On and off for about a year and a half, I finally got down with an eGoT 1000mAH device with the clearomizers. They are relatively cheap and excellent quality. I vape only Johnson Creek juice because of the quality of ingredients: American only...and the price reflects that. Try them out. There are thousands of flavors and concoctions, but I would steer you away from the Chinese stuff if possible.

Good Luck and VAPE ON!!

Hi TheMiller,

Welcome to ECF! This is a great site with a wealth of information but I just want to point out one thing. You need to get off the mindset of trying to find something that tastes like your analog. There are great juices out there with some terrific tobacco flavor but nothing is going to taste like your old cigarettes. If you put that out of your mind I think your journey will be easier and more successful. Gl!

After much research, I ordered an eGo-C Type B starter kit from Cignot, with 1000MAh Twists. I decided to stick with VG liquids, because my wife has allergies to many common chemicals and perfumes. I ordered a small bottle of unflavored VG juice, and one of the sampler kits (Sunday Morning Flavor Sampler), also all VG, and I asked for the tanks that come with the basic kit to be empty. It all arrived this evening by USPS (quick delivery!) and I have just finished my initial acquaintance period.

Some things that I initially found confusing or surprising:
  • The replaceable atomizer heads. I hadn't run into any threads that mentioned this sort of arrangement.
  • The lack of filler in the tanks. Had to do a few searches to learn that this is normal for eGo Type B tanks.
  • Although I'm a long-time smoker of fairly strong cigarettes, I find that the throat hit can easily cause a gag reflex. (I noticed this with the Tsunami disposable already.) So I'm still learning to regulate volume and speed of inhalation so that this doesn't happen.
  • The unflavored juice suits me just fine.
  • I'm trying one of the flavored juices right now (Black Ice, anise-flavored), and that's nice too - subtle. So I'm looking forward to trying the others, provided the flavorings don't cause my wife's allergies to wake up.

Things I'm still wondering about:
  • Should I remove the tank between uses?
  • How long will an atomizer typically last?
  • How long will a tank typically last? (And what fails on them -- leakage due to plastic fatigue from repeated refilling?)

Hi, and Welcome !
Glad you eGo kit arrived so quick...and that you like some of the Flavors you got.
I clean my atomizers about every two weeks- still using the original 3 from 1/4/13 !
The ego is a great step up from a cig-a-like...so you should expect a lot more vapor.
You will learn how long, and how much to draw...won't take long.

Drink plenty of water, Vaping drys you out.
Best to you !
