Welcome.

First, I'd say you may have to do some more research to find out what's right for you. For hardware, I'd suggest an Ego/Riva (Riva for me personally) as the increased battery life will make a HUGE difference in your satisfaction, but only if you are willing to go away from the "traditional cigarette look". if you are changing out batteries every hour and a half or so, it cuts down on the experience. If you decide to go with a slim model, get a 510 (Riva/Ego is 510 compat) or 901 or KR808(?think that's it) compatible model. That way if you decide to upgrade later, you can use your existing/left over atty or cartos and don't have to make a totally new investment.

Also, refill, refill, refill. Do your research and learn how to do it right, how to check to know when to replace the batting, etc... If you decide to use atty and cartridges. Most people I've talked to are using the cartomizers. Most are refillable by various methods and pretty cheap (about 8 bucks for a pack of 5).

For the juices, I personally prefer Vaporbomb.com. Not only can you choose what mix of PG/VG you want to use, the flavors are right on, have not had a soured bunch yet and Harry is AMAZING when it comes to customer service. I emailed him a question a few minutes ago and he responded in less than 2 minutes with the answer. They also have a chat room on their site where experienced vapers will let you bug the hell out of them with questions.

<removed due to me not being able to read smoker OF 17 yrs. vs. smoker 17 yrs old.> Thanks for catching my mistake Ace!

What they said...but if you're on a tight budget and need a good, reliable e-cig (which also looks like one) then get an Intellicig Evo. They're reliable and don't cost too much. If you want anything that tastes like tobacco - don't vape. But the good news is there are lots of much better tasting liquids out there (just try 'em). Always refill your old carts yourself - and if you get strong e-liquid then just buy glycerine from the pharmacy and cut it to your own pleasure/budget. Just my tuppence.

I "second" post #8 by markfm with regard to that link to an article by DonDaBoomVape. It is very informative for a new user of ecigs. Most of the slim batteries that look most like a cigarette have limited battery life: 180mah for 510s, 280mah for KR808D-1s aka vapor kings from V4L, 280mah for 510xl s; and 380mah for KR808D-1 xls (again, V4L.

510s can use either 510 atomizer/cartridge or 510 cartomizers, making them either a 3 piece or a 2 piece ecig. KR808D-1s can use either KR808D-1 cartomizers, or 901 atomizer/cartridge combo.

eGo and Riva batteries don't look so much like ecigs, but jump the battery up to 650mah, and 750mah respectively, meaning that they last over 3x as long as a standard 510 battery, or over 2x as long as a KR808D-1 standard battery. Many prefer them for this reason.

There is also a KR808D-1 compatible 650mah battery just come to market, but I don't recall where it can be found.

Refilling is much cheaper in the long run, and there are many more flavors available. Check out VaporBomb, TastyVapor, or freedomsmokeusa for some examples of what's available.

Cartridges can be refilled many times, though you have to occasionally replace the filler. Atomizers can last anywhere from one to six months or more. Cartomizers usually only last for between 3 and 10 refills, but some people get many more. in any case, all of them are ultimately parts that you will have to replace.

Oh, you absolutely *can* accomplish this! All three! USE this forum like it's your personal palace of education. Read, read, read, ask questions, learn to make smart choices. Open mind, insert the many years of experience these folks very clearly have over us newbs :D

Yes, there is a learning curve. Yes, quitting will cause your tastebuds to start working again, and your taste preferences will change. Yes, you will spend money on things like atomizers and cartridges, possibly new equipment.

Yes, you will go through cigarette withdrawal (I mean the coughing and hacking out the devious krap that ciggies have deposited in your lungs for years) Yes, your lungs will heal from the damage, yes, you will smell better and your house, and your car and your clothes. Yes, you will live longer. Yes, when you look at the money spent, you may actually save money by doing this. Yes, you may spend the same amount, but the benefits FAR outweigh anything a cigarette can come up with.

Good luck!

Wow thank you all so much for the replies and so quickly :)
I just know I want something cheap, that has a decent battery life and tastes good. So far from what I've read on other sites I can typically get one or two of those but not all three.
