Another Noobie DIY'er with Some Observations

Okay, I took the plunge!

Ordered and received the following:

Nic, PG and VG from Xtreme vaping.
6 tobacco flavors from FA.
TA, TE and about 10 flavors from TPA.

Okay...How hard could it be?

Tried to make some Tobacco-Black Cherry-Vanilla-with a hint of Ripe Banana.

Turned out I made RIPE BANANA! I MEAN REALLY REALLY SUPER DUPER STRONG RIPE BANANA!!!

Just in case anyone wants to learn from my experience, when you remove the cap from a flavor bottle and the entire room immediately fills with that fragrance, (Ripe Banana) it is probably a pretty strong flavoring!

I used ONLY 1 drop?!

Same goes for the Tobacco Absolute and Tobacco Extract!
TALK ABOUT SOME OVERPOWERING FLAVORS!

What I have learned and done is to dilute 2 drops of these strong flavors into 5ml of PG and then use DROPS of the diluted solution to flavor juice.

The 5ml of PG diluted with 2 drops of Tobacco Extract and left to steep for 3 days has turned almost black in color!

I evidently have a heavy hand with the flavors and need to restrain myself. I look at 1 small drop and think "Ahhh what could 1 more drop do?"

Yeah right.

Turn your juice into BLECK is what it does!

I'm contemplating getting into DIY myself -- tobacco flavors primarily. Thanks for the tip, as I would have probably thought the same thing about "one drop."

Another tip that I have unfortunately learned the hard way.

Steeping is NOT underrated! Especially for tobacco flavors.

Mix up a fresh batch of tobacco flavored juice...
Fire-up the atomizer to taste it...
Mmmm...
Chemical flavored vapor!

Tobacco flavors need 2 to 3 days of steeping, and really don't taste like the final result for a week or two.

That really leaves me frustrated. Having to wait a week to find out just how good or bad your juice turned out before making changes.

That brings up another good point...

Document, document, document!
Otherwise the recipe could be lost forever!
I don't know for sure, but I think that is what probably happened with Don at BWB and his RY4 recipe! LOL

I use TPA's tobacco extract and cut it 4:1 with distilled water. It's just too damn strong to make small batches if you don't.
