Hi All
Have I reached "The Goal"??? I hope/think so.
I got into vaping about six months ago after chewing tobacco for a year, after smoking analogs for approx 25 years 1-1.5 packs a day. Got fed up with mouth sores and all that, and still smoked analogs occasionally. I'd noticed the e-cig phenomenon from a distance, but that was not for me.
An afternoon with a friend changed my opinion, and I bought an ego battery, a CE4 and some juice.
But...... although it was good enough for me to drop the tobacco, it wan't quite right.
So, the hunt that most of you are intimately familiar with started. I'm an IT guy, so go with the electronics, right? An Evic it is. Variable Voltage, Variable Wattage a program to control profiles, Yess...... But what to put on the top? The CE4 sucks, so I went on a binge of different clearomizers. I didn't understand atomizers, cartridges, and cartos, so I focused on clearo's, and ended up with the bottom coil setups, specifically the Kangers, starting with the T3, and ending up with the Kanger Pro tank.
Not bad, but I quickly found out that I really didn't 'need' the Evic's control system. And while the taste was OK, it wan't great. So, umpteen Busardo and Todd videos later, perhaps I should move on from the Evic. Which mod should I then go with? Hmm... Provari seemed the obvious choice, so that is what I did.
As far as what went on the top, I had seen Todd build coils, so that couldn't be too difficult. Bought an IGO-L, and tried it out. As long as I live, I will always remember the taste of a burnt silica wick. I just couldn't get it to work.
While playing around with this, I found out about ohms and the advantage of mechanicals. So, I got a cheapo mechanical (can't remember which), which did....'interesting' things to my chinese noname 2400k mah battery. Decided on the Dingo from Atmizoo (great quality). Figured out that AW IMR's are the best, so that's what I use as well.
But my dripping didn't work, so as my regular goto setup, I ended up with an AGR V2 carto tank on my Provari (which is what I'm vaping as I write), and just couldn't get a grip on making proper coils. Tried it all, 28/30/32 gauge, SS 400/500, silica wicks in all shapes and forms. Some of them were OK, but none of them beat the cartos.
Until I strayed here, from a Duckduckgo search, as I recall. Saw a post from Super_X_drifter on micro coils, and about fifteen minutes later was vaping the most delicious taste I've ever tried. And they are easy to build. No more hot-spots, wicks can be changed... yep, the bees knees. And when I tested it with cotton.... bliss!!
Although, whether I ran it on the mechanical or the provari, the dripping issue was irritating. Why couldn't someone invent something to solve the problem.......
You pretty much know the rest. I ended up lurking here, liked the tone in the forum as well as the obvious expertise, and the absolutely uncommon engagement from Rob. In the end I jumped over to Rob's site and have now ordered a Reo Grand Black wrinkle, with some extra springs and bottles. I am now waiting.... and waiting.... and waiting
Why did I not order a Reomizer 2 as well, you may ask? Because I'm an idiot. I didn't even notice it when I was looking over the site. I thought the pictures that you guys have was a dripper/feeder from 'somewhere else'. When I've given the Grand a proper run, I'll probably order one toot suite.
As for juice, well that was simple, once I'd run the gamut of tobacco/fruit/sweets flavors. I ended up with a 55 PG/35 VG/10 Water mix with absolutely no flavoring. The Nic level is 6mg for chain-vaping and around 10 for work.
I look forward to spending a lot of time with you guys, and hope that my quest has ended. My wife would probably appreciate the improvements in cash-flow when my hunt stops. Only problem is, I don't see a single one of you with just one Reo.......
Nuff said, sorry for rambling. Can't wait to try my new Reo Grand.

Oh yeah, I'm based in Denmark, so I'm far away from Maine. The kicker is that I was in Maine last year..... Go figure.
