I have been vaping for about 7 weeks now without even one cig after 40 years of smoking. I saw a good friend yesterday that I hadn´t seen in about a year. I told him the good news and this was his response ....

"Have you read, those things are just about as bad as smoking, well I guess it is a step in the right direction.etc"

So I just thought I would pop in here for a little support. :)

I am the same as you 40 years of smoking but have now gone about 15 weeks without 1 cig. Easiest thing and best thing i have ever done, not even one craving. This really is a miracle, stick with it and be very proud of yourself! At the end of the day what other people think means nothing.

Considering the media hasn't been the poster child of honest reporting when it comes to e-cigarettes, it's no small wonder that the majority are clueless about the real benefits. Until the media pulls its collective head out of its backside, we will continue to hear comments of this type. Unfortunately, the media doesn't care about the truth, only their ratings and agenda.

I've gotten the same thing for three years, three times just in the last couple of weeks. It always starts out with "I've heard those things...", then it's usually either "are worse for you than smoking" or "blow up". Then if it's somebody I think I might reach, I say, "Do you know why you're hearing all that?" And I go on to explain lost revenue (BT, BP, and BG). It takes about 30 seconds. Most of the time, the light bulb goes on in their heads. Not sure if it changes their minds, but at least it gives them something to think about.

We all know vaping is healthier than smoking but even if in future someone will prove that vaping appears to be as bad as smoking, whats important is what you feel, and i believe you felt health improvements after switching from smoking to vaping.

There are lots of people over the world thinking and trying to prove that vaping is bad and worse than cigarettes bla bla bla. I even stopped trying to prove them wrong, when someone tries to prove me that vaping is bad and even worse than smoking i just say with sarcastic tone "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah... smoke your stinkies they are good".

I am an overnight switcher, too. About 30 years and I was disgusted at the end. It was good fuel.

Having 3-4 good points ready is helpful. Loss of all the other chemicals that are proven, financial loss by BT, BP, BG and even little government, documented health. My GP doctor was neutral (uninformed) but supports it now as THR. My dentist noticed a change in my gums, my wife kisses me a lot more, I feel better.

Write your story down and submit it to the local paper. For me, it is just a story of gratitude.

Congrats!!

What I tell people: "The USA tobacco tax revenuers are $32-40 BILLION. The gov't and tobacco control, which shares in those revenues, doesn't want too many of us to quit smoking. And they're fighting hard to maintain that revenue stream." For some reason most people "get it" when they hear that number, which is a very accurate number.

The best thing you can do in a situation like that is to educate them. Not "your wrong or your stupid kind of thing" but let me show you some truthful research kind of thing. After all, getting the public on our side is the only way to stop this madness.
I don´t like to argue that much with people anymore (especially friends). Maybe I am getting old. All I said was (smiling to myself) "I haven´t had a cig in 7 weeks and that is the first time in 40 years."

You can try to educate but sometimes there is no remedy for blind and willful ignorance.

Even my wife, who was profoundly relieved I was able to use vaping to quit smoking nearly two years ago, is now regurgitating all kinds of nonsense she reads on social media outlets regarding the hazards of vaping.

Another fun example: my mother-in-law informed me one day, in an unequivocal tone, that since vapor *looked* like smoke, it was in fact smoke. She happened, at the time, to be eating a Snickers bar. I replied that her candy bar *looked* like a dog turd, so...
