Passenger detained after disturbance on Continental flight headed to Houston | KMOV.com St. Louis

Whole story. It wasn't him using the Ecig that got him kicked, it was what he did after being asked to stop. Heard from someone up in the Portland area that passengers were nervous even before the plane took off because of his muttering and spluttering at nothing while staring off into space.

Just quoting the views of the passengers on board.

That wasn't pointed at what you said, was referring to the passenger. I do find myself looking around very cautiously surveying my surroundings whenever I hear those words as I am sure the other passengers were doing the same thing....

Whether something is outlawed or not shouldn't be based on anecdotes. That's really the bottom line. It is so obnoxious that we have to make everyone who uses an ecig become a model citizen just to protect ecigs. This is why law needs to be based on reason and logic.

If I get drunk and do something stupid like crash my car through a drivethru with the airbag deployed or whatever, it's my fault... not the car company, not the alcohol company, not the fast food place... MY fault. Oh my, did you notice the guy who beat his girlfriend to death smoked ECigs????!!???? ecigs must be evil!!

This rationalizing is ridiculous.

I don't disagree, however, if the PV was what initiated the incident originally, then it's certainly fair game

His link said that the Department of Transportation is considering a ban on ecigs outside of airline policy.... based on some idiot that wouldn't behave himself? That's not grounded in reason.. that's just making up laws because somebody was being unruly. In order for there to exist government policy affecting all airlines, to me, there would have to be some demonstrable risk such as electric failure or contamination. Like I said, some dude misbehaving on an airplane who happened to have an ecig doesn't qualify as a real reason for further ecig legislation.

at least it shouldn't...

Seems he was up for an argument irrespective.

Passengers said the unruly man was a problem from the beginning. After boarding Flight 1113, the man became upset because he was not seated next to his friend.
Then after the flight took off, he ignored the “No Smoking” sign and tried to light an electronic cigarette.
