I'm off analogs and have been using e cigs for about two months now... But I fined myself not going out as much as I did as a smoker.. I really can not bring myself to breaking out this big phalic tube and sucking on the end of it at my local bar... I'd rather drink at home with my vv near by... Does anyone else feel they are less social now that they have gone digital..?

yea, its hard to vape when everyone else smokes. i have a group of friends who tried vaping and went back to cigs and a group of friends who just vape. its hard to vape when no one else is vaping.. what i usually do is just make sure to blow the vapor away from everyone and i feel like less of a nuisance. also if you keep your pv looking fresh or buy something you think looks really impressive, you feel like its a cool little fashion accessory.

sometimes i used to hate it when EVERYONE would hit my mod and it would be blazing hot and burned out by the time i got it back. just be strategic with where you have it. keep it in your pocket untill you want to hit it and when somone wants to hit it, say its running out of battery.
one thing i always do is carry around an old mod, like an ego twist, and when someone asks for a vape, hand them that one... that works verry well, just make sure not to loose it!

idk.. it can be hard... i tend to kick it with my vaping buddies more, it is just more comfortable.

hope this helps!

I felt that way at first, but I've loosened up and now I vape pretty much anywhere I can. I did it at the airport the other day (just a few puffs and it was not crowded in the terminal-but probably would have been more discreet had it been crowded). I LOVE going out to the bar and drinking and vaping. Especially if there is a patio-but if we are sitting inside I will do it inside, but I ask permission just to be respectful.

Granted-I do not go out on "smoke breaks" at work with my co-workers like I used to. Every now and then I will go out and vape a bit but it's nothing like before. So I guess in that sense I am less social.

With the social aspect of it...in many cases (but not all!) folks that engage in damaging or addictive behavior often like to engage in that behavior with other people that do the same behavior. I think it helps us justify our own damaging actions when we see other people doing the same thing. This creates a "social" aspect.

With vaping, we aren't smoking and we are engaging in a behavior that is far less damaging. We are making a decision to leave a negative behavior...so perhaps we feel we are doing something good for ourselves and don't need the "justification" that comes with smoking with your friends. Not sure. I'm sure there is a book about it somewhere.

I haven't had that experience, but I do tend the leave the big gear at home when I go out. I take a Spinner which is VV, or a Twist which is VV also, or if I want a mechanical I take my Vmod box mod. That's really pocket friendly too being a box.

I think most people get used to being in public with a PV after a while.

That's interesting abstractcousin. I've had the opposite experience. I tend to hang with the smokers and I've found they are very easy to vape around. Yes, I've got a few off the wall comments, but I've been able to turn those situation around pretty easily. Got a lot of questions from smokers who just want to know more too, which is great.

Same here, I usually just bring my Ego-c and iclear16 when I go out, and the tanks/mods I use at home. Vaping is still smoking in the eyes of non-smokers, so unless I'm at a bar, I wont be blowing plumes of vapor when I'm in line at Safeway or in the waiting room at the doctors office... although tempting to do sometimes when the wait/lines are really long ;)

I used to be that way. At my old job, there were designated times for break. I would be surrounded by dozens of older guys who'd been brought up in the old days. Every now and then I'd get "is that one'a those battery cigarettes?", I'd always just say yes and go about my way. Now I don't care in the least, although the age of my smoke break peers is different by a few decades. Most people seem really interested in what I'm using, and quite a few others are vaping as well.

It is pretty cool to ask someone else what they're using, where do they order from, that kinda stuff. If I'm out and surrounded by people smoking, I know I'm getting stared at, I just don't care anymore. I can think of much worse reasons to get stared at.

I have never had an issue with going out with my vape in the 6 years I have been doing it. However, the biggest issue I have had was with my best friend who had been quit from smoking for about 10 years when I took up the vape. All I would get from him was it looked like I was sucking one a big d*&% and this and that. I finally stopped him and looked him in the eye and asked him how he quit. He said he used the nic gums to quit but I already knew that. and I said back to him, yeah, you used gums to quit so what why the hard time with this? Its a positive change I am attempting to make and you trying to embarrass me is not helping me to keep to my commitment of staying smoke free. He shut up about it and has not said anything negative about it since.
You have to feel good about it. Like someone above said, if you think of it as a phallic then you think others think of it the same way. Get something you think is cool and dont let what you think others think destroy your resolve in staying smoke free.
