He was doing so well until the last 3 paragraphs, no need for anyone to tar him with the conspiracy brush, he's wallowing in it.

Until then he had a point, however their is the concept of the greater good. Governments are perfectly happy to act in a Machiavellian way and do a wrong to achieve a right. Most people are, if the truth be told. I don't think you can claim malfeasance if the deceit is for a greater good. Otherwise all the warning signs that have DANGER emblasioned on them should be changed to slight risk, moderate risk and probably OK as long as your carefully. They don't and that's because alerting people to the threat is more important than telling the truth or passing on facts.

I think if we were to challenge the excesses of tobacco control it would be on the grounds of guilty knowledge, the point at which a party is fully aware of the damage that their 'product' could cause and continues to offer the same product without amending it to the new knowledge.

tobacco control can't claim not knowing if ecigs are safer anymore and continuing to sell this misinformation is causing damage without any evidence of a greater good. i.e. reducing the health effects of inhaled tobacco smoke. Remember when that was the whole point of TC? Before mission creep and ideology took over!

The Bolton Smokers Club blog has posted a comment on our comments to this thread. Evidently he wished to comment here and was prevented by the new-member-5-post rule and possibly technical glitches as well.

As I said in my comment to him, I hope he will persevere and join us. My :2c:

Many thanks for your comments, AgentAnia, Uma and Jason B. What surprised me was the difficulties which arose after I had registered and responded to the email. It was odd that I could not post a comment on the thread which you chaps had started.
What you should know, if you are not already aware, is that ‘the war on tobacco’ started a long time ago. Recent events, such as smoking bans and junk science reports, are the culmination of decades of planning. We are not talking about a conspiracy theory. We are talking actual planning. Does the spread of smoking bans throughout the world with unprecedented speed not fill you with suspicion? To find out more, you need to google ‘Millennium goals’, ‘Agenda 21′, ‘Common Purpose’.
As an example, the millennium goals were said to be intended to eliminate poverty and disease throughout the world. What actually happened, immediately after the UN passed the resolution, was that the Framework Convention of Tobacco Control was wheeled out fully prepared. The FCTC is what is meant by ‘eliminate disease’. Note also how Climate Control has morphed into the redistribution of wealth from the West to Africa and the East via carbon credits.
The arrival of ecigs has thrown a massive spanner into the workings of the plans. People are not supposed to help themselves. They are supposed to rely upon Big Pharm. Ecigs are a threat to Big Pharm’s massive profits, which they expected to go on for decades.
It would be a mistake to think that this ‘conspiracy’ requires an army of willing participants. It does not. It requires only a small number of highly placed people, such as those in the WHO and the EU and access to loads of taxpayers’ money, Big Pharm backing and grants from wealthy ‘charities’ like CRUK and The Lottery, with which to hire staff and spread propaganda.
========
I hope that you vapers stem the tide.

I found this thread to be very thought provoking, as I have been trying to figure out how to legally come after these death-mongers.

I have reviewed the thoughts from this thread with my wife, who passed the bar but is not a practicing lawyer, and she said...
--Malfeasance is not a crime, the actual criminal act is the crime, and that crime is a form of malfeasance
--Lying or giving false information is not generally a crime under most circumstances

This does not mean she knows what she is talking about though.
:)

I'd love to see this discussion evolve.
Mainly because I'd love to see Stanton Glantz imprisoned for life for what he has done.

Oh I *so* agree with you about prison for certain egregious ANTZ fanatics!

Remember that the Bolton blog is UK, so differences in US and UK law must be considered. (I'm sure we don't want Mrs. DC2 to read your comment on her legal prowess....)

I would hope that some clever US attorneys could come up with something to get them into court as defendants (if indeed it should come to that... which we hope it won't... except I really would dearly love to see a certain mechanical engineer in prison orange, assigned to the smoking section....).

It ghit me reading this thread and listening to the news tonight. Glantz is free to spread lies in the name of science and it's not an issue for our government. Snowden releases truth about the undermining of the basic rights of each American and all the government can think of is putting him on trial.. You have to question what is actually going on.

I've been reading this thread and thinking that maybe we're looking at the wrong end of this problem. GSK is stopping all payments to Doctors for their lectures to other Doctors about which drugs to use.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/17/business/glaxo-says-it-will-stop-paying-doctors-to-promote-drugs.html?_r=0

They may be getting the message after the 3 billion dollar fine and now the Chinese going after them for bribery.

The money quote and what has me thinking that this may be a weak point was this.
Previously, “It wasn’t really made public in some big, splashy way,” he said.
It refers to all drug companies having to list all payments of this sort on a searchable government database.
Just looks like most cockroaches they can't stand the light.

It's a follow the money game to find out who is paying for all the preordained results "research" grants that seem to be coming around like Prues reading the posts on here and writing a $100,000 paper on it.

Just a thought on maybe a different avenue we could pursue and try to connect some dots.
