just curious as to how many current/previous college students are lurking the forum ...

im at Vincennes University... for Conservation Law Enforcement..

if you have went to college, what did you go for and why did you decide to choose that degree

I decided early as an avid outdoorsman that i wanted a job that would have me being outside a lot... a C.O. is right up my alley, plus i Love learning about laws and everything... if i had the money id love to go to law school.. but i dont
im also debating getting a bachelors degree in homeland security, ill see when the time comes...

looking into Gnomon School of Visual Effects, online courses, don't want to travel to go to a college. Learning a 3d program called maya. High success rate of students some of which have gone on to work on Transformers 2, and Uncharted 2, and many other feature films and games. Still debating, been putting it off for a year now but I'm thinking about it a lot more lately with current job being crap. I would also love to have a job that didn't require standing in the same exact spot for 10 hours a day doing the same boring thing every 20 minutes on an assembly line every day for 3.5 years, kind of makes you feel a bit crazy.

So if you didn't read that, no I'm not in college but I'm contemplating.

I do live in a college town but the school doesn't offer anything I'm interested in.

Currently going into my last quarter for a BS-CS. Then it is off to graduate school.

To answer your question: I have been using and programming computers sense I was a child. I stumbled into a programming job in my early 20's, and then realized 6 years later I lacked the fundamentals (math) to take me to the next level. I decided to go back to school and complete a bachelors in computer science. Loved it so I thought I would continue and complete a MS, and maybe a PhD if I feel I have the ability to accomplish it.

I love working outdoors as well. Until recently I farmed my fathers 72 acres of citrus. It was nice to get out from behind the computer. If all goes as planed, I will never work in an office. I hope to be a gypsy programmer.

Hmm I went to Central Michigan University for a BS in Political Science. Did that because I actually enjoy politics and figured I'd end up going to law school. After I graduated I took a year off to figure out if thats what i really wanted to do. Being in Michigan that year off ended up being unemployed and living with my parents, so law school it ended up being! I'm actually really enjoying it and ended up with a nice big 85% scholarship from Cooley here in MI. I'm actually in the midst of my first term finals and probably should be doing something more productive then late night forum browsing, ha.
