My video ripping really just consists of editing with Pinnacle. I cut and edit scenes, add titles and wipes, and leave it processing while I go watch TV. Most of what I do is just vacation and family videos or an occasional video of the Praise Band I'm in at church (lead guitar).

As far as gaming is concerned, I don't usually play really CPU intensive games that require top end video, although I want to be able to if one attracts my interest. I'm a Halo online player, ATP clan member, and I usually play online at 800x600 for speed and turn down the video effects so that I don't have to wait for the smoke and debris to clear while I'm shooting. The other guy has it turned off and he will annihilate you if you have to wait to see him again through the smoke of a rocket explosion! I'd like to be able to play at 1024x768 or better with high frame rates. Right now, I get 120fps average at 800x600 on the Halo video test, but it will fall into the 30s and 40s during a scene or two.

I upgrade every three or four years and generally buy the best bang for the buck components that I can get for under $500.
