Using single IMR 18650 batteries will provide ample power for nearly all but a small minority of vapers. Stacking requires some extra attention on your part to ensure that they stay safe. From the time they are new stacked batteries should be marked and exclusively used as pairs, both when using and charging them. Do not use batteries for stacking that have ever been used as singles.

You also need to reverse stacked batteries' upper and lower positions in your VAMO each time you use them. Check the voltage of the individual batteries periodically to make sure they remain the same. If the aren't the same quit using the weak battery entirely and don't ever use the second battery for stacking.

Efest IMR or AW IMR batteries as well as Panasonic CGR18650CH (hybrid) batteries will all provide a sufficient discharge rate to allow your VAMOs variable watts/volts feature to work correctly.

For the 18650s it seems that most people prefer the Panasonic CGR18650CHs. You have to wait for shipping from Hong Kong but Fast Tech has them for an excellent price, Panasonic CGR18650CH Rechargeable 2250mAh 3.7V 18650 Lithium Batteries. They are sometimes out of stock but Amazon seems to have the best prices for a U.S. vendor.

Some people have reported that their VAMO's battery cap won't screw on all the way using stacked button top 18350s. Panasonic doesn't make an 18350 and AW doesn't make a flat top 18350. If you buy Efests please only purchase from a reliable seller—lots of counterfeits floating about. I got mine from Vapor Beast because the owner is pretty fussy about what he sells.

okay, well i doubt im going to stack now then, id rather just use a 650 and avoid all of that extra work. only reason i was originally thinking of stacking is because i read some threads about using a single 650 in a vamo had some connection issues and the battery bounced around inside because it had extra room in the battery case, and stacking fills the extra room.

The older VAMOs used a smaller spring and had those issues. The newer VAMOs do not have that issue with the larger spring.

The current VAMOs are shipping with better springs than the first versions that got reviewed. The 18650s no longer rattle with the improved spring. If you want an even better spring than what comes with the VAMO you can use one of these springs (same spring, different names).
Hot Spring - Silver Bullet / OmeGa - electronic-cigz.com
HeliX hot spring - Avid Vaper
Silver Bullet/Omega - Replacement Hot Spring - Altsmoke

I would suggest getting the Panasonics if you are going to use 18650s. Most people seem to prefer them over the AWs and Efests.
