I had 90% of my thyroid gland removed almost 20 years ago, took synthroid for years until my 10% had grown to functioning levels again. Haven't taken anything in years, so far no problems.
Wow, I didn't even realize that was possible. Very cool! I was on synthroid when I was first diagnosed but I still felt bad even though my levels were all "normal". I still have some bad days but overall I feel much better on the Armour.

Hey!

I use to be one heck of an athlete competing in many sports(ice hockey, bicycle racing, lifting, martial arts), but that was before I hit 40. I've become very sedentary since, but I'm rebounding for 2016.

For at least 10 to 15yrs I smoked cigars and cigarettes, and chewed tobacco. I gave up smoking in Sept, 2015 and have not touched them since. I feel great and I think I'll continue to show more improvements over time.

In 2015 I bought new Kreitler Rollers, and my Serotta road racing bicycle back from my brother. I also bought a Polar CS 500 heart rate monitor system for my bicycle. I did not feel comfortable riding the bicycle on the rollers until recently and did not want to stress my body like that, having just given up smoking but I'm starting to feel great and will be getting on that bicycle very soon.

I wanted to add that I don't think most lifting would be effected by vaping or even 1PAD smoking. It is for most people a non cardio heavy activity. That is not to say your heart is not stressed, but you have a lot of time for recovery if you do not push yourself hard.

The Polar system that I purchased will allow me to upload to the Polar site my rides on the rollers. I'll be able to keep track of improvements over time.

I rode in the Iowa Games around 93, and I have my cue cards for my workouts. After six months of getting back in to shape, I may take a look at the cue cards and see what I can currently do. I was training at the time using "Heart Rate Intervals" and would raise, lower and HOLD my heart rate for a given distance or amount of time. It was pretty rough at the time, and I doubt that I can do it now as I have been diagnosed with aortic stenosis.

I'm just trying to be in better shape than I am and drop 25lbs+. If I can improve the quality of my life... I'll take it. That is why I'm on ECF too. I took up vaping for a better way of life, to change my lifestyle, and the improvements are very noticeable.

I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building and after walking up the front steps just once, I could feel my heart beating very hard, and had heavy breathing. Now within 4 minutes, I can walk up the front steps to the 2nd floor, down the back steps to the basement, carry up a load of clothes to the 2nd floor, and feel nothing bad at all.

Only difference I noticed was being able to breath better while running and not getting side stitches as bad when I start running hard again. I Don't do too much cardio in summer, mainly lifting but when I used to start my cutting cycle while on ciggs, it was brutal but, 100% easier starting the intense cardio in the fall/winter months.

It's really encouraging when you see improvement with things like stairs! And now when I'm lifting it really hits home for me that I used to be carrying around 60 extra pounds of weight all the time. 60 lbs is a lot!

I have definitely improved from where I started, I used to not be able to jog at 4 mph for longer than a minute or two, and now I can go steady at 6 mph for 30 min+ (which I know might be slow for some but it's huge for me!). I think Im just getting to a point where it's harder to see the results I'm getting because when you first start you improve pretty quickly and now I've hit a plateau. I have a Fitbit Charge HR and I know my resting heart rate has improved along with other things so I just need to focus on that more than what Im seeing or not seeing in the mirror.

Good luck with getting back into it and losing the 25 lbs!

Vaping doesn't affect my performance at all because I don't work out but when I go to the gym to watch the 6 o'clock Zumba class (which is mostly 20 to 30 yr old women) it really bothers them when I set up a chair and vape and watch. It bothered them more when I said "That's right baby, shake that thing!" I thought I was just saying it in my head but apparently I said it out loud and I was asked to leave. I can't believe it took them 4 months to realize I didn't even have a membership there.

Welcome to Haunted's madness. Quite the introduction to his ... shall we say.... quirky mind, huh? This was actually tame compared to some of his other ummm posts
I have a brother-in-law who is wildly crude and inappropriate in just about every situation. I doubt Haunted could surprise me ;) It made me laugh!
