A lot of people say that BackwoodBrew's tobacco base has some cedar tones in it.

Yes, the basic tobacco extract blend that Don uses in many (but not all) of his BackwoodBrew tobacco blends has a definite cedar overtone. I liked it at first, then gradually tired of the cedar over a year, but now I rather like it again. (Those changes occurred in my palate, not in the juices themselves.)

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I've tried several Halo juices, and I just don't like them. Just too strong for me. I've also tried a few of Don's juices over at BWB. Although not as offensive as Halo, I still find Don's juices to be perfumy and strong. For example:

Casablanca tastes of strong pepper to me.

Applewood is OK, but I don't care for the apple flavoring he is using.

Smoky tastes old to me. Don't care for this one at all.

555 and Virginia are the closest to what they are supposed to be, but I just don't care for the taste of Virginia tobacco.

I was considering giving a few more tobaccos from Don a try. I'd still like to try several: Malty, Adirondack, Maple, Cherry Tobacco, etc.

I am considering doing some DIY stuff this spring. I want to try my hand at extracting from a few different pipe tobaccos...mostly aromatic blends. I will definitely try to extract some cedar and see how it goes. I really think it could add a nice layer to many of the tobaccos floating around out there today.

Thanks again for the posts. Aaron.

Acleme, I'm interested in tobacco extractions myself. Have you tried WTA juices? I'm confused on how you could create a tobacco flavor concentrate without adding the different alkaloids into the concentrate/flavoring. Does anyone know how this works? I know there are full spectrum and single alkaloidal extractions and certain extractions that will pull the alcohol sollutible alks, certain ones that will pull different alks, all via the different solvents, and different extraction methods, but I wonder how each method and/or solvent effects the end resulting flavors. I would assume an alcohol extraction and reduction of alcohol extractions is basically a WTA extraction. How does one pull the alkaloid content? Or does any real tobacco flavoring from extract offered to us vaporers contain WTA?

You may also want to try AVE's Havannah Gold, it's similar to Blend 4 but not as perfumey. Still very predominant Cedar overtone. I for one can't stand the Cedar flavor, but I know a lot of people enjoy it. If you read my review there, you'll see that I state I don't care for it because of the Cedar overtone. Some other guy also comments that it taste nothing like Cedar, trust me, it's because he has no idea what Cedar smells like.
So I ordered some AVE Blend 4 this week. I LOVE the cedar flavor in that juice, but it's got a perfume undertone that I hate. That got me thinking...maybe there's a really good tobacco juice out there with a woodsy/cedar undertone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Aaron.

I'm pretty darn sure it's only in their Freedom Juice. I hate Cedar flavor and am very sensitive to it. I do get a weird perfumey taste/aroma from many of their liquids, especially Torque, which I like, but I have no idea what it is, perhaps nail polish remover.
I find that Halo's tobacco base has some hints of cedar. I seem to taste it most in their Freedom Juice.

He told me that there's no Cedar in Applewood or Cherry tobacco. Other woods are in there however. Taste a bit like rubber tire to me, a sort of "petroleum distillate" aroma that I don't care for.
