Hey there GG fam. So lately I've been experimenting more with twisted 32g wire in my Penelope, and vaping more ~.6Ω as opposed to the .9-1Ω coils I usually used to vape. As you guys know the Penelope tends to get quite warm sometimes, but lately since I've been playing with the twisted coils my mouthpiece gets so hot that it burns my lips after just a few drags. It's a huge pain sometimes trying to have a few quick vapes at work, as I literally have to use a little wad of paper towel that's wet with cold water to cool it down to even vape. Anybody have any ideas of a way I can maybe rig up a drip tip or something to my Penelope so that I don't keep burning my friggin lips? I'm especially looking at Bishopeals here. Surely with those insane coils you vape you must have found something to prevent this?

i do a .7 ohm dual coil setup up (learned it from bishops videos) on my penelope and i use it on my piccolo at 3.7v and the only heat issues i get is when i chain vape it maybe 15 vapes in a row. the tank starts to heat up a bit and then it works its way to the mouthpiece. i wouldnt say i get burnt lips but it does get hot. thats my hint to put it down for a few minutes and then it cools down in no time at all. i havent tried the twisted coil but with the lower resistance you are gonna generate more heat, there is no way to avoid this. the lower res gives us a warmer vape and with the penny being a steel construction it will absorb some of this heat. if you have the mouth piece screwed down and juice control closed the space between the coil and mouthpiece is small and will heat the mouthpiece quicker. i vape thick vg juices so i open it up almost all the way, take about 10-15 vapes, and then close it and i found this helps reduce the heat alot. the metal tank will trap the heat in longer so maybe a clear tank will shed heat better? if not try bishops dual coil setup, i found its my favorite and i dont get major heat issues unless i take 15 plus drags in a row. best of luck to you, experiment and you will find your solution. i will setup a twisted coil today and see what heat issues i experience and see if i can help find you a solution.

Well I was thinking about the idea of the carto condom for the Oddy. Blu cartos are a tiny bit smaller than regular cartos, so if I can get some of them to try it may help. I hate to waste $15 on a pack of crummy Blu cartos and all but if I can get a bunch of heat shields out of the deal it may be worth it, we'll see.

I've been getting burnt lips on my Ithaka. Weird.

Honestly I can get burnt lips with anything I have used if I let it heat up enough . Varries by resistance. This is why in the past I mostly used derlin drip tips. Now I normally keep multiple mods going. And just grab something else when one gets to hot.

Yes I'm doing the same, I always carry at least two different atomizers like the Ithaka and the iAtty or the Penelope and as soon one gets hot I change to the other. Lol

Cheers

What gauge wire are you guys using? It is my understanding that at a given resistance (i.e. 0.6 ohms), a thinner wire will generate more heat more than a thicker wire. It's possible that using a lower gauge will solve your problems. I set up all my GG RBAs the same (Penny x2, Ody x2, and Ithaka): 30g nichrome 60 at 0.6ohms. I usually take 4-5 consecutive rips, and my mouthpieces never get hot. When I was using 32g kanthal, my mouthpieces would definitely get warm, but never to a point where it would burn my lips.
