I have a friend that was a smoker. She asked my advice for a mod to get into vapeing. Since she was brand new I recommend something easy, the istick 30 (since the istick 50 had such a bad rep) I told her to buy two, since she would need a backup while one charged. She ordered two. For awhile she was thrilled, even converting coworkers. But then, right after the 30 day warranty expired, so did one of the isticks :( I felt bad, but to be perfectly honest, wasn't that surprised. I've owned my share of mass produced inexpensive mod's, had the same experience. My next advice will be for her to put out the money for quality.

Because I bought one a couple weeks ago and have heard horror stories of the 50w and general poor build quality of eleaf products in general.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head...
It's a decent design with inconsistent build quality. This leads to some people having a terrific experience with it and others with a pile of junk. You can take a chance on getting a decent one but be prepared for the opposite.

    Is yours still working?

Perfectly, but its only been two weeks. I do use it heavily, go through the battery in about 4 hours and about 4 ml of juice in 3 hours.

The 30W overall has a pretty good track record. The 50W has definitely had it's issues but there are good ones out there, like mine. It has been flawless since I got it 6 months ago. Eleaf is also claiming that they have fixed all the issues. Take it for what you will. Not all Eleaf products are junk, the Lemo tank line is phenomenal. As long as you use their products correctly and treat them well, most will be good.

I've had my iStick 30w for just over a week now and I use it with a Subtank Nano and a Nautilus Mini and couldn't be happier. Obviously I can't comment on longevity but I think the initial build quality and features for the price are awesome. It's a great mod for a newer user or someone that just wants a pick up and go type setup.

I've owned 2 20W, 2 30W and a 50W -- all from day one of release. The 20W suffered from poor calibration in mean and not RMS, and soft 510 threads, which Eleaf fixed in the 30W. The 30W have been solid, with nothing more than the phantom button press occurring ... sometimes. That is more of a character trait that an issue ;)

I've dropped a few of them. I've gotten then wet. I use them daily. And all are still working perfectly.

I can't discount others experiences, but I've never encountered any problems with mine. I recently PIF'd one 20W to a co-worker who needed an upgrade to her failing EGO battery. And I don't hesitate to recommend them. The form factor is a major reason I like them.

After just over 30 days of normal use, it just died. She tried to charge it, nothing, won't turn on anymore, just seems completely fried. She tried all the tips, turning it off on, etc, just died. Wasn't abused or misused. She's a responsible adult, took proper care of it. I honestly feel badly about it, being that I recommend it for her.
