I haven't tried a 901 but, I have an adapter and a couple atomizers on order from madvapes. They might even show up in the mailbox today. At 3.7 the 510s do the job but, varying the resistance or voltage seems to make them get too hot. I feel like I'm cooking my tongue. The 901s are supposed to be cooler which might be closer to what I'd like.

One of my first adventures away from cig-sized PV's was a SD MKII (native 901 thread). But it came with a 901 to 510 adapter, and frankly I liked the 510 on it much better. Then too, there's more 510 stuff out there to play with. So I sort of left 901 behind. (Ego, Go-Go, etc.)

BUT, I eventually built a puck, using a 901 (just because that's how the instructions read), not really expecting much, and figuring I could use the 510 to 901 adapter.

Well, knock me over with a feather. The 901 at 4.8 volts (probably more like 4.2) is light years beyond a 510 at 3.7v OR 4.2v. I now have to force myself to use my 510 stuff, but 90% of my vaping is on the puck with the 901. Even the wife admits its MUCH better than any of the 510 stuff.

Maybe not for everyone, but for me at least, 901's RULE.

BTW, I've gone thru so many 510 attys I've lost count. But I'm still using ALL of my original 5 901's (from Totally Wicked) and an SLB 901 (even better)

Well, my 901s and adapter just made it in. I bought them to try on a cheapie madvapes VV box. These are 2.5 ohm atomizers and I'm using them right now at 4.7 V. I have to say that I like them a lot better than the 4.5 ohm 510s at 4.8 V. The vapor is warm but, not tongue frying hot. The vapor production and throat hit are fantastic. I'm still trying different things to determine what I need for my ultimate vape whether I buy it or build it. I'm leaning towards build. It might need a 901 connector. :)

it hapened to me , after 3 months vaping with 510 attys I try a 901 and wow !! I don´t want anything else now

Good to know. All the positive comments. I'd say the OPs question has been answered!

As far as 510s "gunking up" more is that even without a wick? And do the 901s have the same fibrous wick from the bottom of the bridge to the coil?

back in my early vaping days, I bought a 901 atty to try dripping on my V4L XL batteries. I liked it fine, but it was a MESS. I ended up going CE2 -> MAP Tank route. After months of peer pressure, I bought a cisco LR306 and started dripping again. I was still making a mess, but really liking it otherwise... I ordered an Empire drip shield to solve the mess and figured I'd grab a LR901 and adapter at the same time. I've gone back and forth over the last week+ between the LR306 and LR901 and I think I'm sticking with the LR901.

My current LR901 is an IKV 1.8, I've got a Cisco 1.5 and a second drip shield both scheduled to land tomorrow.
