Is there any semi-accurate stats on the types of systems that would be considered the standards in the e-cig industry? What percentage of off-the-shelf PVs are 510s, 808s, 3.7v, etc.? And what proprietary / semi-proprietary systems compete at parity with the 510s and 808s of the world? -Magnus

I doubt it. All I can go on is the number of posts here and my feeling that right now the rebranders hold the majority of the market share.

Everything else

That would be my guess also.

There are reasonably accurate statistics available. They've been assembled by people who earn their living by assembling all the available data, crunching the numbers, and selling the results, so I'm not comfortable just shouting out what they've found. There's also the "I paid for it, so you should, too" factor. ;)

But, conversationally, what I've learned makes me happy that I chose the 808D-1 autos because it's obviously going to be around a long while (as in nothing else is threatening to drive it out of the marketplace).

OK, assuming you're not just pulling my chain... where can I buy such data on this e-cig market? I couldn't find a reliable outfit through Hoovers and nothing in a Factiva search came up that broke it down by this sort of area. I'd be further interested to see what other data they've crunched for this area. -Magnus

If you have a serious need, I could try to find it again -- it was a few months ago that I was assembling some related data (projecting component needs). It's not the sort of thing that cane be easily googled -- I doubt "e-cig" was ever mentioned -- it dealt with the trends in component manufacturing/importing (thread sizes, ics, sensors, etc.) in a variety of consumer items. It also might not be easy to find because for many of the sites I use, you have to log-in before you can get to the index of available data.
