Any minimal maintenance tank systems?

Hi All,

It's been a while since I last posted here. I've been out of the whole e cig updates for a while. I found out about 3 months ago that there was this whole craze on RBA's, RDA's, and mech mods going around. I recently got into RBA's and it's not cutting it for me. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong because I'm getting less vapor and sometimes a very muted taste. From time to time I get this thing in the back of my throat where it feels like spit or some kind of gunk is stuck in my throat and I keep having to clear my throat for hours. Due to this, I've had numerous sore throats.

Currently, I'm using a AGA-T2 clone with a 400 mesh and 32ga kanthal ribbon wire. I usually like to vape higher VG's as I like to plumes of vapor. I build my coils to be about 1.5 ohms and I vape it at 3.6V.

I used to be more of a carto and tank guy, but I wanted to get away from it. I was tired of it constantly leaking and getting duds every now and then. I went into RBA's knowing what I would be getting myself into and now here I am stuck at what I should buy next. I've tried using clearomizers and liked it for its' simplicity, but that's about it.

I know I may be looking for the holy grail that doesn't exist, but are there any good tank system that gives as much vapor as a carto and has minimal maintenance? I've been looking into getting the diver mod, but even with that, it seemed a little hectic.

The Kayfun/Russians are really easy, single coil builds.

+1 for the Kayfun/Russian style. I use RDA's when at home (Igo-W, Nimbus clone, Helios) and my KFL+ on the go. Super easy to build, I use a micro coil and cotton wick. Vapes like a champ on mod I've used it on (Evic, King, Neme clone, VTR) and little to no maintenance. Just change the wick when changing flavors or every couple weeks YMMV. You can find good quality clones if you want to get your feet wet with out shelling out the big bucks too. Started on the Kayfun clone and loved it so much I bought a real KFL+.

Apologies for piggy-backing D.

Not long ago I had switched to the AGA-T2 and even tried the T3. Cable mesh and ribbon wire. I had them dialed in pretty good. A lot of work though. I saw the REO here and there but wasn't big on the box shape. Then I read a thread on it and it sounded like a pretty easy setup.

After trying the REO Grand with the RM2 I haven't touched my genesis tanks. Its so much easier than setting up a genny and the flavor and clouds are pretty awesome.

But don't just take mine and Mamma Tried's word for it. Check it all out here:
Reos Mods

So many people couldn't be wrong. I know I haven't regretted it. I think its pretty close to the holly grail of vaping, if there is such a thing.

If you just want a no maintenance vaping tool, a REO Grand with a Reomizer 2.0 is hard to beat. My well-worn daily driver is a tumbled raw aluminum model I can leave "distressed," or brush or polish. A 6 ml bottle and 18650 battery in a tiny box smaller than a pack of cigarettes. It rides out of sight in my back pocket between a CR123 flashlight and a knife--rugged as a tank and doesn't leak. Get this... I installed the 0.8Ω Kanthal micro coil that's in it now on August 1st and it's still going strong. Put a fresh wisp of cotton ball in it once a week or so and it's like new. It's the only mod I take out of the house. When I get home, I top off the bottle and swap in a fresh battery so it's ready to go again.

If you had leaking carto tanks, it's very unlikely they were the imminently affordable IBTanked products. I solved the carto dud and taste problems with ByLeo.eu Sophias in them. Although I have a "home" REO Grand, the IBTanked Sophias are what I mostly use there.

Just a 1/16" horizontal micro coil, made from Stormy's inexpensive NR-R-NR ready wires, fed with cotton ball wick. The Sophia sets up about as quickly as an RM2 (of which I have four). I've used it as a dripper with the juice control closed and tankless, and it's as close to my Empire Mods bridge-free atomizers as I've found in a RBA when it comes to flavor. Even in a tank, it wicks well with the wick cut off up where it comes out of the ceramic cup. Some like it better that way, but I keep them longer for tanked use, shorter for dripping.

I use straight drip tips so refilling the tank is as simple as slipping the top end cap up above the top of the drip tip, push it over to the side and fill with a dropper. No tank tool needed. The straight drip tip is needed to seal a 45 mm tank when you push the bottom out of the tank to remove it and R&R the wick or coil. And that drip tip needs to fit tightly with a 45 mm tank because it's all you have to turn the main tube and adjust the juice control. I use ByLeo's STR5 (5 mm) with a 35 mm tank and their STR15 with the 45.

An actual cartomizer would have filler material and this has none. So it isn't a rebuildable cartomizer. It does replace them in a carto tank (like the Diver and predecessor Killer 705), and is more like a disposable dripping atty.

For X-Puppy: the Sophia 510 connector is drilled and I suspect it will work on a REO. The ByLeo eBaron Dripper Spiral does from what I read and it's essentially the same base inside. I have two REOs and two Sophias by my chair and have no excuse for not trying this. I need to get a round tuit.

Not trying to beat a dead horse here but gotta mention the Reo as well.

Durable. Easy. Portable. Consistent. No leaking. No electronics to fail.

It can also be argued that the RM2 is possibly the easiest RDA to build on out there. Evenly wide spaced posts with holes in them. A ceramic deck to lesson the chance of a short.

Okay... got a round tuit. Nope. It works fine with the REO powering it for dripping, but even a light squonk floods the Sophia. Will keep it on my Simplicity.
