I have thought about this a lot. Liv2Ski, you said you made the hole bigger. Did it help. If it did I might try it on some of my old attys.

It definately provides more airflow. I only did it on one that was not fully machined and decided to go a little bigger. Also see clydes post. BTW - status of the salt test???? Happy Holidays

I've drilled out the plastic disc hole in a 510, drilled out the two side holes near the atomizer threads, and enlarged the 4 slots on the battery connector. Worked great for me, I disliked the hard pull on stock parts. I used a pin vise and number-indexed drill bits, no need to use power tools. Jeweler's file on the slots.

Interesting. How did that effect vapor & TH?

Done it on some LR510's...bored them to 5/64". Dremel on lowest speed possible.

I do the same thing myself. I occasionally have some cartos with a tight draw and find doing this does increase the airflow. The TH and vapor an them are the same as on my cartos that have proper airflow.

You don't even need a drill...most are made of brass or a similar soft metal. A sharp nail and a bit of persistance is all that's needed. Be careful though as a little goes a long way. You can always do more, but can't undo...

Yes matthawk7 that will work but there is a certain level of satisfaction in firing up a powertool even though a non powered one will do the trick. Also, if I don't plug something in once in awhile and amke some noise my wife starts to ask "why do you need all those tools????".

What happened when you went to far. Did you cut a wire or something?
I revived an undrilled Atty a few weeks ago and tried this
And to my dismay I drilled a fraction too far..so just make sure you go slow and check how far you've gone or you'll end up with a 7dollar practice piece..
