I work in an office (most of the time). I was always ducking out back to smoke an analog. Since I started vaping, my boss and coworkers are fine with me doing in my office. Lucky me!

Last week I was at a customer site (power plant) in the control room. When I mentioned electronic cigarettes the operators said "Fire it up!" They were totally amazed that there was no lingering smell. Then they told me that it was fine to smoke it (sorry, vape it) in there.

I have been getting about 99% good reactions to this. I did have one guy tell me not to do it around him as he didn't want any second hand nicotine, which is fine with me after being a pariah to 90% of the population for so long.

Anyone else getting the Okay at work?

Although there's been no "official" green light for vaping at work, my manager, who is a smoker, often sees me and three co-workers, (one of whom is the department's supervisor), hitting the PVs at our desks.

So, we all just assume it's OK. Our area of the building is fairly isolated, and there's nobody else in the company located close enough to legitimately complain about our vaping.

Im a headstart teacher, so offcourse there no vaping or smoking while working. When I use to smoke, I usually don't even smoke during my break because the kids dun like those ashtray smell after I return from my break. Now that I'm vaping, I can vape all I want during my break.

My boyfriend can vape in the office, and he loves it that now he dun need to step out the place and freeze outside. He didn't really get much complaints besides one of the co-workers that claims that he smell something burning when he vape.

Wow TiKiMoN, banned because it LOOKS like smoking! Next they'll take away the soda machine because it looks like drinking! I guess I could understand this in a middle or elementary school, but anywhere else seems like nonsense.

Like Mike, I tend to ask politely first and have been getting good reactions. But I have a gut feeling that the 'PC police' will soon be coming after vaping as they have with everything else. There seems to be a segment of the population who want to be able to tell everyone else how they should be living their lives.

My boss thinks the e-cig is cool, and he's all in favor of anything that might help me quit analogs (He's an ex-smoker and very sympathetic). Two other people in my office are smokers and I asked the one non-smoker with a sensitive nose to check out my vapor - it was Dunhill flavor - and he said all he could smell was a faint hint of roses (?). So I vape at my desk, in the server room or in the restroom - just not in front of clients. My office mate is a little bummed to lose his smoking-in-the-rain buddy, but my boss likes that I never have to leave my desk :)

I vape at will in the office, and in the shop, but I also smoked in both places. Smoking in any workplace is banned here, but my boss smokes, and usually everyone else is on site so it is just the two of us, and neither one of us was going to report the other. :D But when I stopped smoking, he stopped smoking inside. He has actually cut down a lot since I quit, and I have hopes that he will be able to stop one of these days. He does have a 808 that he uses once in a while, and an e-pipe that he likes to use when he's relaxing at home. I haven't actually tried vaping anywhere I didn't smoke. Except in my house.

I asked my friends if I could vape in their house while having a LAN party and they said sure. At one point they were all sitting around my screen watching YouTube videos and I needed a hit, so I tried to stealth it. They jumped back because I had "smoke" come out of my nose! I explained to them that I can taste the flavor better if I exhale through my nose. We all laughed about it and they said it was fine, even while they were sitting close, they couldn't smell anything. That made me feel alot better and I did it openly after that. It felt great to be accepted. But they are way cool anyway, they all went out with me when I needed an analog even though none of them smoke. I am still a closet vaper (most) everywhere else so I haven't had many reactions.
