Hey guys, I am wondering how I should handle this situation. I came home from work and upon checking the mail I found my package from AVE like this: http://i.imgur.com/JnVayGU.jpg http://i.imgur.com/OKq7Var.jpg

Not sure what happened and when but I am pretty ....... I don't think anyone got into it in the mailbox as I live in a nice gated community in a cul de sac. Not ruling that out though, but I cant imagine the USPS person dropping off the package like that. Is this something I have to take up with USPS now, or would AVE have to file a claim? This is definitely not their fault as the package was sealed completely and just ripped open at the top.

You should definitely make a complaint at the PO to let them know it happened. Contacting AVE as well wouldn't be a bad idea (though I'm sure Wookie1 will see this post soon and ask you for more details, anyway)

Normally, if an opened and empty package is delivered, the PO will put a "damaged" sticker on the envelope before sending it out for delivery. Contacting them will allow them to investigate what might have happened in this instance. Though chances are not much will come of it, it is still worth getting it on record in case it happens again

Thanks guys, Wookie took care of me. I went to the PO and filled out a form. They said they would look into it and speak with the driver so we will see. Gotta feeling nothing will happen on that end but hopefully it will give me recourse if it happens again.

Glad I could help :)

I got a package from AVE in identical condition. It was mailed on 12-6-2013. The local post office marked it as "Received Unsealed" and scotch taped it shut. Somehow, and I still can't figure out how, nothing was lost from the package. There were six 30ml bottles in the package and none of them were damaged.

I had a package of juice from another vendor come all mangled up and scotch taped shut too. I was almost ready to contact the vendor because I hadn't got it within the usual timeframe.

OP: I hope the PO does something. I had three packages stolen from my front porch, one delivered from USPS and I opened a case and after a month, the case was closed with "unsubstantiated cause" even though when I opened the case, the person on the phone told me there had been other packages stolen on my block. The other two packages were delivered from Fed-Ex and they reimbursed quickly.
