I used to love two strokes, the sound, the power characteristics and the smell. Great bikes. There are a lot of mid 70's two strokes riding in classic series racing at a local track to here so i see a fair few TZ's.

I'm a bit fussy with how a vehicle sounds and when it comes to bikes a screaming 4 cylinder four stroke or a 2 stroke is about all i like. I've never liked the sound of singles or twins and for me a lot of the experience of riding the bike is the sound.

I'm only just getting used to the sound of MotoGP bikes for heavens sake and they'e been around 14 years now! :)

Got another piece of my restro yesterday.... complete front forks + triple trees from a 1972 Yamaha AT2... all AT and CT models up to 1973 are the same (same frames different engines). For 72-73 they used aluminum instead of steel for the lower fork sliders like the 69-71... so in replacing my shot chrome fork tubes, I lost a bit of weight (mine is a 71 and had steel sliders) AND gave myself the ability to mirror polish them like I'm doing to all the rest of the aluminum :)

For my last bike, I went from one like this

To one like this....so much more user friendly in a city environment.

The father of the guy I bought my first bike from (owned the local RV dealership) rode a light blue Vespa. He was always the first 2 wheeler on the roads when the weather broke... last to put it away in the fall too. Used it rain or shine! I always see scooters as being bad ... because of him :)

My bike i take on "the road" for work was my baby brother's first bike, then he got my mom into riding it was her first bike, then he bought it back and sold it to our friend Scott for his first bike. When he passed four years ago I told Scott when he upgraded I'd want it back like my brother had done before. He sold it to his cousin as a first bike. Well that cousin called me out of the blue and said he was getting rid and was giving me the chance to get it back in the family.
Everyone "upgraded" to a big twin.
I traded him my moto guzzi V11 straight up because it was so sentimental.
The goose is a much nicer ride but I have a lot of memories with this one.
I'm the oldest and rode first, always various sport and sport touring styles.
I have an 01' fz1 and the last 06' carburated springer softail my brother left me in his will.
My first was a Honda fat cat when I was 15.

That Sportster sure looks to be in good shape for a bike so many people learned on.
Lol, it must be trick photography, its really in rough shape, flaking chrome and corrosion everywhere. Its got so many mods from each owner, its a total beater!
But hell its ride with lots of personal history.
