Relative noob here. This may be a dumb question but should I be worried that the wires are not in the right direction? Or should I just simply bend them to the correct direction?

Yeah, you can also just remove a half wrap (easy) or if there's enough leg length... roll an additional half.

may ... create a "hot spot" because pre-rolled
coils are usually touching at the wraps, called "contact"
coils. Easy enough to pulse the power and tweeze the coil... a standard practice when building one's own contact
coils (it oxidizes the contact points keeping the current from jumping across the wraps).
If you're not familiar with the technique, now's your chance to learn about it.
Just don't touch metal tweezers to the coil while pressing the fire button (use ceramics for that).
